508 pilots didn't vote. COOOOOL!
Our 200 rates are as good as ASA but what really chaps my ass is the BHO and the COLA (1% UP YOURS!) At least the guys at SAPA are getting a nice raise, LAME!
That's why I'm not applying to SkyWest even though it would mean no commute for me. Seriously, you guys deserve better than that.
Or you could come over and join the apparent minority and help us make this a better placeWe need everyone we can get!

I know it's a better deal to go be a street captain at Mesaba than to come be an FO at Skywest. But even without this crappy pay raise, skippers at Skywest make more in every aspect on every seat aircraft than Mesaba guys. Best of luck to you wherever you end up, but lets keep it real.
You can't put a price tag on dignity and self-respect.
One thing to keep in mind here is that this was an interim amendment to our current 'agreement'. No, I am not being a management apologist and notice I said 'agreement' not 'contract'. Nothing has really changed except a few more pennies per paycheck. The blinds were pulled over the first and second year FOs and they were conned into thinking this was a good proposal. Bummer.
Try as some of us might, we haven't been able to rid our ourselves of this stupid BHO deal and educate the young portion of our pilot group. Our time will come though, when the growth stops and the Kool-aid starts to taste sour. They will finally see past themselves and realize this is an industry-wide challenge and we all need to work together.
Honestly overall, it is a good place to work at. While we do have a lot of good things going for us, it is certainly not perfect (show me an airline that is) but there is a committed core of individuals trying to change things for the better. Once we slow down hiring and get the Kool-aid drinkers weened off, I think we should launch a fresh ALPA drive. It might be tough to time it correctly, but it can work.
As long as I am with this company, I will continue to work toward making it a better place. Not only for our pilot group, but for everybody involved out there. I grow tired of the hard line rhetoric, honestly it accomplishes very little if anything at all. I could spend my time talking trash about other airline's woes and shortcomings but I would rather focus on the positive and work together toward a better future. But that is just me.
To the 'noobs' reading all this stuff here at JC, do not let yourself get caught up in the day to day negativity. It is rampant in this industry and will eat you alive. There are some folks who will never be happy with their professional lives and will happily bring you down with it. Don't get sucked in and avoid the 'holier than thou' attitudes. Work hard, stay focused, get educated, keep your chin up and try to do the right thing. :bandit:
Peace.
