SKYW Pay package results

I was jumpseating up front a few days ago on YoNited and the guys told me their new TA closed the gap in workrules between narrowbody and widebody. I don't know much about the details but it sounded overall bueno to me.

Serious question. Any plans for ALPA to extend some sort of membership to non-union pilots? Couldn't those at places like SKW, Colgan, or JetBlue pay dues to join the party and receive legal/medical services?

There are ideas for this, and it was even on the agenda for an Executive Council meeting last year, but it's all been delayed because of the various big issues like AAA/AWA. It will probably be addressed at some point within the next year.

The busted equipment/finger pointing isn't just b/w XJT and Skywest. I'm sure PCL's got stories of how many times Mesaba Ops has put a ground delay that was their fault on a 9E crews. I've got a ton of them myself. I watched them marshall in, off-load, load and push out a Saab the other day. I watched it while waiting to be marshalled into the gate next door. Once the Saab was unhooked and taxiiing out.....then the ground crew came over and marshalled us in. This was in MSP, and isn't the 1st time that's happened. Problem is, our hands are tied b/c Big Daddy NWA has said "You get Mesaba ground personnel in MSP and DTW. Don't like it? Tough." We waited for 45 minutes for a gate agent to get us paperwork the other night. Then the CA gets a phone call the next day from our operations wanting to know why we had a crew delay. I think there's so much finger pointing in these management meetings that people forget we're all on the same team.

Understatement of the year. I've sat in the DTW Admin Office waiting to do some representations and listened to the daily delay code meetings. The department managers all sit around a table and go over every single delay from the previous day. Each department has a limit placed on the number of delays they can incur per day without trouble from upper management. So what do they do? They trade delays with each other to keep every department below the max. On a bad day with tons of delays and they can't keep it under the max, the meeting goes crazy with them fighting over who's going to take the delays. It can actually be pretty amusing.
