I have enough balls thank you very much. More than your spineless pilot group has. I have lost all respect for it recently. I really used to like you guys, even after the ALPA failure. But with the way everyone has been gung ho about this INSULT of a pay package just makes me feel nothing but shame. It seems your group prides themselves on being management's pawns. I'm not blaming you particularly, Omar. It's the collective. I know you have good intentions (though voting in the pay rates seems a little selfish, IMO), but your group has no desire to "raise the bar". Sucks for those who do.

LOL. you can feel all butt hurt you want. I've done my work. Did you once volunteer during the 2 year drive? Sooooo I'm selfish because I worked my ass off trying to get this thing on the property only to have it fail, and now I vote in a pay package that gives me a 14.9% raise plus a 5% override? Yeaaahhh.

How about the loss of pay during my 2 years of organizing the campaign? I was pretty selfish there huh? How about going to SLC,SFO,LAX,DEN,ORD countless times on MY DAYS OFF, for 2 years. thats pretty selfish huh?

96 credit ish+ Holiday pay

And I never flew an airplane with more than 50 seats.

Yawn. I'm not butt hurt about anything. You're throwing the younger guys under the bus, just like the major guys did. You spent 2 years organizing a campaign that had no chance of passing and now you've cashed in on your dream. You truly must believe that if you can't beat them, join them.

I'm guessing from the tenor of your question that you are assuming too much about the intent of my post. Allow me to elaborate a little. :)

My intent, very simply, was to point out that Chris does something that very few other people do here. He is very recognizable in real life as the same person that posts his <insert adjective of choice> thoughts here, with no chance of hiding from his own words by using an anonymous screen name. I believe that deserves some small amount of recognition. I am still undecided if that is a wise thing to do, but I can certainly appreciate the difference that it makes in his having to deal with any and all repercussions, good or bad, of his writings.

All of that being said, maybe it was not fair for me to use your post as a springboard for that particular thought, since I can see how you would interpret it as a commentary on whatever beef you have with Chris on this union/non-union/wage issue you guys are *discussing*. To be honest I really wasn't paying much attention to what you guys were talking about, I was just skimming the threads and noticed your comment about Chris "hiding behind his screen" and it brought the aforementioned idea to mind. So I threw that thought out there, simply because I could. :D

So back to your question. "...what else do you know about him?" Well, I know a little more than just his name. Why do you ask?

Previous proposal had a 5,6,7, 8 percent override every year, now they've just brought it down to 5% every year. Which cuts out the raise that year.

The thing that gets me is these little boys and girls that didn't want ALPA are all of a sudden coming out of the wood works and demanding this and that from the pay package. Let me make things crystal clear for you.

You were offered the use of an atomic bomb in a gun fight. Since you refused that bomb, you now don't even possess a knife. To want or ask for anything and expect mgmt to give it to you is more naive than thinking money grows on trees. What ever offer they have given is their final offer. Take it or leave it. YOu have no ground to stand on. No negotiating power. Plain and simple. Rinse, wash, repeat.

I certainly understand what you're saying about the guys who were NO voters for ALPA. However, if it was me, I'd have a very hard time voting YES to this new proposal with only an override instead of a real rate. It's a matter of principle. But that's just me.

train, the funning thing is when I would preach to our guys about this point, something just wouldn't click in their heads.
 
SkyWest can't be helped... It is a good company (that could be great), but the pilots (not all) won't help themselves to get it there. So, what ya do... You can't help those that don't want to be helped. So, I decided to lookout for myself and voted for the pay package (for the first time) to add a few pennies to my last couple of pay checks. On the plus side, it looks like JB is going down... Anyway, I wish everyone luck!!!

So your telling me you'd say no to a 15% pay hike? Override or not, its a hard 15%. Thats a hard hourly hike. At this point its like a 3 year old trying to win a fight against his/her parents. Your not going to win with no representation on property.

I already voted NO to a 13% pay raise this year at AAI. It simply wasn't enough. Not to mention the other problems with scope and other issues. In the case of your agreement, the override instead of a real payrate for the bigger airplanes would be a deal breaker for me. Bigger airplanes need bigger rates. Overrides are unacceptable and set a horrible precedent. Your override is negatively affecting the bargaining leverage of regional pilots across the industry. It needs to stop. You may not have any real power, but you can at least send a message.
 
Ok. I agree. Send a message. But when mgmt knows this pilot group has no spine, hw seriously is that message going to be received?

The message isn't just meant for your management. It's meant for the entire industry. That way when Mesa or Pinnacle management come to the table and say "the Skywest pilots are flying bigger airplanes for just an override, you should too," the pilots can say "the Skywest pilots voted NO on that and had it forced down their throats." When you voluntarily agree to it, it hurts the bargaining leverage of the rest of the industry.
