Visiting

I'm pretty sure I'm going to visit on February 15th. On mapquest, it said the drive from MSP to GFK is like 4 hours, 45 minutes. Is that at all realistic?

What all should I look into when I'm up there? Advice?

I'd be enrolling in fall 2009, by the way.

It's more like 4 hours, or slightly less.

Spend a few days there and absorb all that Grand Forks has to offer. That's my best advice.

I'm guessing you will be taking the aerospace tour? If not, make sure you do (I think it's set up by calling aerospace student services). I would also highly suggest getting tickets to the UND vs Denver hockey game! It's always a great series to watch.

good time of year to visit. gives you an accurate picture.

take all the tours, go see some sports, and yeah its about a 4 hour drive.

fall 2009 why not 2008?
Well I'm thinking it'll be a good idea to graduate high school first.

I can't really miss that much school, so I'll only really be there for a day. I think the plan is to take a late flight from DFW to MSP thursday night. Stay at a hotel at the airport overnight, drive a rental car to Grand Forks early friday morning, take the aviation tour, stick around, maybe a hockey game (?), then get up saturday morning and start making my way home.

What all does the aviation tour consist of? Does it include the regular tour, or would I need to take that in addition to the aviation one?

The Garden Inn is nice, it is attaced to the Aerospace Buildings so you can look around in your free time if you want. Definitely try to go to the Hockey Game that night, it is going to be a blast. On the Aerospace tour, which is seperate from the campus tour, they show you around the buildings on campus, then they take you out to the airport and show you around there. I should have a flight that Friday afternoon so I might see the tour out there.

Also, be sure to dress warm!

Honestly, a day is probably all you need to absorb all that Grand Forks has to offer. Go to a hockey game. It will be your life if you come here.

My best advice to you is explore ALL of your options. My biggest regret is that I was ignorant of my other options. I looked at a few schools and chose UND because "it was the best." There are other schools that are the best too, so just go where you actually want to.

Don't read too much into "UND sucks" threads. UND isn't actually a terrible place. The school is great, but the location could be better.

If you have any questions ask here. We are often bored and ready to answer.:p

Hahaha, all you really need is three hours to explore The City That Always Sleeps™. A day will more than suffice.

I just searched google maps for Perkins in 58201 and it shows 2restaurants. The one on Columbia, and the one west of I-29 on Gateway (47th St).

Well, it IS improving here, I think. I mean, they just put up a Denny's, ya know :bandit:

Where's the Denny's?

All Grand Forks needs is MORE CHAIN RESTAURANTS! :sarcasm:

We do have TWO Perkin's too!!!
Perkin's... yuck. Their pancakes are good though.

All we need now is a Red Robin and we'd be set.
Red Robin... YUM... one of my favorite hamburger places.

Hell, all we need is a Popeyes and a Dunkin' Donuts!! :DDDDDDDDDDDD
Popeye's or Church's Chicken FTW! ...oh Angel... I am an official Dunkin' Donuts coffee fan. In Lagaurdia I get the employee discount coffee from Dunkin' Donuts everyday at work for a buck. The little Columbian lady who works the stand at 5am knows me by my first name already. :D
