Attention CJC'ers

Hey guys- I've been in and out of LGA the past couple of days and noticed that 233CJ is about to be fitted with STAR ALLIANCE COLORS.

Is Airways paying for this, or is Colgan trying to make Airways happy and steal more money from it's employees?

By the way- Anyone else get stuck in New York's LGA last night and have scheduling screw around for 2 hours to find a hotel and by that time have to take a tour bus to Newark with 25 other Colgan employees?

Livin' the dream...more like nightmare.

Thought you were suppose to be home everynight? Welcome to reality of what goes on day to day in this operation.

It's been a bad week for everyone smittey. My day started off pretty bad, I'll just say that much.

ok so here it is....

I had 2 days off and now I'm getting ready to go back to work the next afternoon. Since crewtrac is not working properly I call scheduling to confirm my showtime for 4:25pm the next day. They confirm this and so far it seems like I'm going to work at 4:25 pm the next day (my normal scheduled day). Since I have a late show I decide to stay up a bit that night and spend some time talking to my girlfriend. I sleep around 1:00 am. Dazed and confused I wake up around 4:30 am to the sound of a knocking on my room door. My father (understandably angry) hands me the house phone and says, "deal with this". Now lets take a moment to see what's going on here. My cell phone is by my bedside, it hasn't rang. My cell phone is my primary contact number with the company, my house phone is my emergency contact number. I have never been called at my house phone before.

So I'm still half asleep and have no idea what is going on, I pickup the phone and suddenly I hear the rude voice of a crew scheduler.

"Is this First Officer ****? I'm calling you to notify you that we switched your afternoon trip to the morning round trip, you now show at 6:00 AM."

My response is , "What????? You must be crazy. It's 4:30 am." The voice on the other end states that someone called in sick at 1am, so they need me to cover the trip. I tell him there is no way I am going to make it there by 6:00AM, you notified me way too late. He then tells me "Well I could have called you at 5:00Am but I decided to call you at 4:30 to give you the extra 30 minutes." (gee thanks!) I then asked if he called my cell phone, to which the response was, "I figured you would be at home so I called your house number." I told him, "so you ignored the fact that my cell is my primary contact number and called my home at 4:30 am and woke everyone up?". He then says that if I don't make it for the 6:00 showtime then I will get a missed trip! II tell him there's no way I'll make it there by 6. He then says I have to speak to the Chief Pilot and it's going to be a missed trip, to which I say , "okay sure transfer me to him, and give me your full name and employee number". So I leave a message with the CP.

Then my cell phone rings an hour later. I figure maybe it's the CP so I answer. A different scheduler now calls me and asks me if I'm going to be at the airport by 6:00 AM. I notify her that I am sleeping and will not make it there by 6:00AM. She then tells me that "it will probably be a missed trip then" She tells me that I've had plenty of rest because I've had the last 2 days off and how come I cant show up. I tell her "look, life takes planning, I don't just magically show up to work on time everyday. I plan my life accordingly" "I've had 3 hours of sleep up until now, there is no way I am going to operate an aircraft on 3 hours of sleep. That's not safe and it's not legal." She then used the ''missed trip'' threat again. I tell her I'm not on reserve. To which she answers "It's still a duty day". I say, "My duty day starts at 4:25 pm". She then says "you were advised at 1:00Am of the schedule change". I say , "1:00Am??? No, I wasn't notified until 4:30 am" To which she has no response. She then said , "Okay well I'm going to transfer you to the Chief Pilot then, It will probably be a missed trip" I said , "sure, can I have your name and employee number".

Keep in mind this woke up my entire household at 4:30 am. This was not a reserve day for me, just a normal day.

I go back to sleep, wake up later and check my voicemail. Message states that my showtime is now back to 4:25 pm.

I have left 2 messages with the CP. Have not heard back from him. I'd like an apology from both of these schedulers for threatening me with a missed trip, lying to me, and for calling my house at 4:30am without calling my cell phone first.

Dude, that's some serious BS!

There really needs to be something done to get those schedulers in line.

Sidebar: Sent ya PM on the subject, while we're at it.

Wow. I really don't know what to say.

I know what to say: VOTE YES!!!!!!! The next ALPA vote is only about 9 months away. You guys need to spread these stories around in the meantime so the newbies understand how important representation is. The amount of bullsh&^ that you guys put up with over there is astounding to me. I'm still amazed that it didn't pass the first time. :banghead:

Speechless

I was on the bus! That was hilarious, like 5% of colgan crewmembers all got screwed at once. There was one guy that never got told to go on the bus and he did anyways, turned out he was supposed to be on it! When we got to the hotel, colgan hadn't faxed the list of pilots yet and when the guy at the front desk called them, they responded with their classic slogan: "oops".

Not at all surprised. I still laugh when I hear people say we don't need a union, otherwise I think I'd just have to cry. There are still some people here that are that stupid - until it happens to them they just don't beleive that sort of thing happens.

They tried pulling something like that on me once. I had just finished an evening line in HPN which means we blocked out around midnight and I got home around 1-130ish (no one can afford to live closer than like 45 min to HPN). My cell phone was called twice at 2 and then at 215, I saw the number and didn't answer. I fall back asleep. About 20 minutes later, my mom comes running up to my apartment from downstairs saying there's somebody from colgan scheduling on the phone. I grabbed the phone <click button> hmm, there's no one from Colgan on the phone anymore. :) I go back to sleep. I promptly removed any reference to any phone number other than my cell phone with the company. They were trying to get me to work a morning show instead of the afternoon because whoever was supposed to called in sick. When I showed up later that evening I discovered who they victimized. I felt sorry for him, he actually answered...

I have left 2 messages with the CP. Have not heard back from him.

Don't expect to. The biggest slap in the face from that crap-hole (and there were many) was that he never acknowledged my resignation. I called him 3 times, e-mailed him twice and mailed him my official letter. He never had the decency to call me back.

I feel for ya man, that's rough. That's why I only have one phone number listed and never answer an unknown or va area code until my duty day starts

*sigh* glad i left. btw, can't say enough good things about snuggle. hell of a pilot, and one hell of a man. and i wish the hell you were outa there.

Wow. With all the MT threats, sounds like you guys might already have PCL schedulers doing the calls. That's they're favorite. "If you don't do this, we'll MT you!" Okay, fine. They MT me for friggin JURY DUTY!
