And while we're on the subject of BMW machinery... they also made one of the first jet engines, the BMW 003.

My neighbor above me on the 18th floor owns a veyron. He also owns a F430 Cab. He would park it outside the club he owned down the street from us every weekend, tentation ultra lounge and sushi. He also owned a large mortgage company that netted him $37 million dollars in 2005. I read an article last month that he is now bankrupt. I sat in the jacuzzi one nght with him and his girlfriend. Kind of a quite guy.

I'm going to get a Saab convertible when my Mustang dies. Why?

Because I like getting things that are a little different and a little quirky. These days, BMWs and Mercedes and Audis are a dime a dozen.

But you don't see too many Saabs!

I gotta' come down on your side especially when the $80k car can be driven daily and will go 100k+ miles with regular oil changes and routine maintence while the $200k car needs major engine work every 2500 miles. You can't take your Ferrari to the corner mechanic for the required engine adjustments.

Being a bit of a car snob I've looked into buying an older Ferrari 348. The car requires major service at something like 25000 mile intervals (could be less) and you can't take a car like that just anywhere. It makes the cost of maintaining a Porsche or BMW look like chump change. Fortunately for my bank account, we bought our house in an "equestrian" subdivision (No, I'm not into horses, but I like some elbow room) with dirt roads, so my automotive ambitions have been severely curtailed to driving a F250 Super Duty Crew Cab Lariat. That's kinda' like a European sports car for snob appeal -- isn't it? I even keep a nice thick coat of dirt on it so the paint won't fade!

Dan Wilkerson, formerly of the Washington Redskins lived on my street for a while and used to drive his Z06 down our dirt road (he could just about put an arm out each window) and the guy that lives behind me has a new Carrera 4, but I couldn't bring myself to drive anything near that nice on a gravel road.

I'm driving a BMW but I love Saabs as well, I think they are very classy.

Ah you're one of those.. :)

I guess I could be convinced to take a $220K car that didn't out perform the $80K vehicle..

I'd just sell the $220K car and go by a $140K car that was pretttty close to the $220K car in poshness and go buy the original outperforming $80K vehicle.. ;)

They don't give an overall positive view to ANYTHING! Jeremy (the elitist SOB) has to find something bad about everything. (Could the guy hate Porsches any more? I.e. the "laziest design group in the world")

I've always wanted a Mustang. I think it's because Bullitt came out the same year I was born or something. That is one kick ass car.

I'm not sure whether I'll get another one when this one dies or if I'll buy a Saab convertible. I know I'm getting a ragtop for sure but I don't know if I'm going to want to go with Detroit iron or something that's born from jets.

These days, Detroit iron IS quirky and different. Beats the hell out of a Camry or a Civic!

I think most of that is just a put on. The show is meant to be more entertaining than educational.

Besides, they give Japanese cars, as well as American cars praise all the time.
