If I spent that much for a watch I better be able to drive it to work and it better get good gas mileage to boot! Beyond that, I bet your testicles will look really BIG wearing that kind of wrist jewelry.:D

Stick with a cheap Casio, or if you want one of those "I'm a PILOT" watches just to impress ground dwellers, get a Citizen Navihawk. All those buttons and dial wiz wheels will keep even a newbie f/o entertained for hours and hours!:p

I also wear a Timex Expedition. Very nice watch, but dont trust the compass:D
 
I like the Breitling but would prefer it on a metal band. its cool that you are able to get yourself something like that so I say treat yourself to what you wish!(if its financially feasable) Currently I have a Swiss Army watch that my girlfriend gave me. Its a freakin tank, a little pricer than I would have paid for a watch though. Ive never even used the chrono thing.

I don't think most "ground dwellers" would even know they were supposed to be impressed. Personally, I like very simple watches. You start adding all those dials and they look like a cheap toy to me, so everytime I saw someone wearing a "I'm a PILOT" watch, I just thought... "Dang that thing is BIG and ugly!"

I wear a Timex Expedition... the exact one below. It was $40 @ SprawlMart.

It has 3 time zones... I keep UTC, my domicile, and L.A. (where me and my wife live for now) It's not too big, it's not too small, it's got indiglo so I can tell the time at night. It knows the date (when I don't) and that's it. (it's got a bunch of other functions - that I've never used, including a loud alarm) It's all you need, really. Oh, a nice leather band that doesn't grab my arm hair.

For impressing my wife I have a Hong Kong Rolex - $40 also - you can't tell the difference between it and an actual one. (that was till the crown fell off) Next time i'm there I'll pick up another one - they are cheap, look amazing, and are actually really good watches.

You don't want a lady (or a guy) who's only into you because of what you have on your wrist anyway. And what you want on your wrist when you are flying is a good solid watch that tells time that you won't miss (or can easily replace) if broken or stolen.

Wish I had that kind of luck w/ my Fossils. The bands wear, the battery only lasts a year, the face gets scratched too easily, and the cheapest battery replacement I can find is $20 which is 1/3 of getting a new one.
 
my wife and stepdaughter gave me a beautiful Breitling for Father's Day - no one would ever know it's a 'fake' - looks authentic and keeps time just as well :-D
 
My wife has the woman's Breitling because her sister works at Torneau and gave it to her for a birthday present. My birthday present from her was a beautiful Revue Thommen Airspeed in Titanium. Yes, others have commented on my watch. But they also comment on my pen. Sisters rule. Sisters-in-law rule!
 
If you want to save on a Breitling go to Charlotte Ameile, in St. Thomas. You can get the watch of your choice for a fraction of the price in the states.

If Cape Air sends me down to the caribbean, I definately plan on shopping around for one.
 
Along those lines, if you're taking an international trip you can typically get really good deals on a Breitling watch (and other stuff) at the Duty Free. For crewmembers, they also sometimes give an additional 10 or 15% off which makes it an even better deal! I could have bought another B-1 this past summer in the T&C Isles for less than it cost 6 years ago when it was new!!
 
Rolex, because it will hold its value pretty much indefintely and the breitling will not. If you dont like the red and blue around the face you can get it in black which looks a lot better. I think the Rolex is at least $1000 more though.

I've had this one for nearly five years and love it. Just my two cents. :)
