New hires starting at second year pay; ASA ?

I know someone who washed out of the ASA interview... applied again and got some time in a sim... and is in the training right now.

Funny thing about this rumor:

If they did enact what is proposed, they would have to retroactively pay every crewmember on property the second year pay rate when they were hired. I'm sure ASA is going to do that to attract qualified applicants. :sarcasm:

RETRO CHECK!

Man, I just love the sound of that. Put down a sizeable downpayment on my first home with that one! ;)

Chicag's right though.

I just spoke with a good friend of mine from Pan Am who is an FO at ASA and he says the rumor is just that. But he says they want to hire 40 pilots a month, and they are only getting half that. And reserve time is really short, maybe a month or two.

Back in June of 2005 I busted the flight sim portion at the ASA interview also, dont know why... they dont tell you. But I went on and got hired at Piedmont, so go figure.

Exactly, just a rumor.

Time to get back to busting balls about getting a contract finalized.

The "rumor" I heard was that mgmt went to ALPA and asked to increase 1st yr pay. Alpa reponded, somehting along the lines of get the contract done and 1st year pay will increase.

Hey Everyone, management wanted only a pay increase for new hires like lnewby said, and ALPA disagreed. We want it across the board. :)

Negotiations to continue later this month.

Yeah, that is one I can be proud to hear then.

Glad to see ALPA, err ASA ALPA standing strong.

Any of this on the ASA ALPA negotiations website? - nevermind, answered my own question

Their interviews are good, it is the sim ride portion of the interview that is a b****. Half of our flight instructors from my former school got sent home, and they were all 1000+ hour local ATL people. Even our chief flight instuctor got the "no go", and he has already completed airline training once in his career. So, go figure.
Geez...that sounds pretty tough. What are they doing thats making it so hard, especially for the 1000+ hour guys and what are guys messing up on in the sim?

Well, anyone who knows anything knows that EMB doesn't make 50 seat jets anymore...so not sure how that rumor even got off life support!

The production line is not closed. The Legacy bizjet is the same platform as the 145 and the Legacy is alive and well. And Embraer is still producing a ton of ERJs in China for the Chinese market.

ExpressJet will be the first one to start offering second year pay, maybe even more for current 121 rated pilots.

Cool, good to know. But one thing isn't the Legacy smaller than the ERJ, seeing as the Legacy doesn't seat 50 peeps?

Embraer still has the basic ERJ line open, they are building plenty of Legacies. I would guess the Legacy systems have 90% commanality with the ERJ.

It has the same fuselage cross section, it is the same length as the EMB-135 with the uprated A1-E engines (used on the XR) and extra fuel tanks. But it is essentially the same plane, same hydraulics, gear, engines, fire protection, electrics, flight controls etc.

I think they would open the line up for the right order....I don't think it would take 100 aircraft to do it.
