Nevermind. After comparing our Q400 payscale to that of other comparable aircraft at other companies, why would anyone want to fly it here?
3rd yr, Captain Q400 at Colgan - $56/hr
3rd yr, Captain Xjet ERJ 145 - $64/hr
3rd yr, Captain Horizon Q400 - $69/hr

Not too bad. Do you know what starting FO pay is?
Your comparing a TP to a Jet and then to one of the highest paying regionals. Get what ya pay for I guess.
I don't get why it should be based on pax. You have the same responsibility if you have 1 pax or 100 pax.
Not too bad? Hardly.
I'd make out better going to Xjet next year. I could upgrade in the same amount of time or less and make considerably more. I bet if Colgan really wanted pilots to stay longer then a year, they'd improve the compensation and benefits. But I guess the bottom dollar is more important than keeping employees on board. Unless we can get serious changes to pay with ALPA on board, I'll be sending resumes in January. $18k-23k is not a respectable wage for flying a 76 seater.
Oh, I see what the problem is now. I can't believe that all FO wages are the same. Thats total BS IMO.
For captain, it didn't seem too too bad, but after seeing what you have to go (FO salary, a not good one) through....sheesh, its rough out there.
On another note, Isn't Horizons upgrade around 5 years? so would that mean 3 year CA, you would have to be there for 8 years?
Negative!
If you spend 3 years in the right seat and upgrade, you do it at 3 year captain pay. You don't loose time w/ the company because you upgraded.
Does that help?
This plane assures I always have a job and that the makers of Advil always have a steady stream of income.:laff:
And Horizon's pay rates are exactly the reason why they haven't expanded in over 4 years. Now that Alaska's revenue is falling, I expect to see some budgeting being done by them.
I would like to see $60-65, competetive, but still enough money to buy the stuff we worked hard for.
How about pay based on how much hand flying is done? lol
Honestly I could care less how my seats the plane has. I don't get it why people get all excited cause the 900 has 90 seats! Big deal, its the same up front.
Honestly I can't believe how low the pay, guess I just dont want to think about it
Not too bad? Hardly.
