Scenic (again)

I know there's a post about this place a few threads down, but I figured a new thread was in order.

Just talked to my cousin-in-law a couple hours ago and Scenic is desperate for FO's.

Minimums are commercial multi. They have 23 captains and 7 FOs. So captains are riding shotgun with other captains because the flights need to go.

So if anyone hear wants to bypass instructing and fly your butt off in the ditch, put in your resume via their website.

I think I'd be interested however I've heard that there's a 1 year contract, are they still enforcing it? Also is the flying all day VFR?

From what I know most is day VFR, except maybe in the mornings and late at night when they're coming back. I do know some guys have said they get actual in the winter months there.

You'd have to ask someone who works there for more info.

I asked one of their captains a couple of weeks ago about the training agreement. He told me there wasn't one at present.

I would like to apply but I'm hesitant about the pay.

He works there. Been a captain for a while now.

Just talked to him this evening and I asked "How's work?"

"Busy, flying right seat and left because our lack of FO's. Skywest keeps taking them all."

You hear something different?

I know MANY FO's leave for SkyWest in the first 6-12 months. I don't think many people would stay there and upgrade to Captain.

Good company from what I have heard though.

From Scenic's website.

Minimum flight time requirements to submit the application are 600 TT, 400 PIC, and 50 ME. Please do not apply unless your logbook shows that you meet the minimum qualifications as of the application date.

So the times no longer required. . .perhaps they should update their website.

From a recent post on here, for FOs:
$6.75/hr on the ground
$13.50/hr in the air
$1296/mo guarantee

I think captains are $24 in the air, $12 on ground.

Does anyone know if Scenic is a CASS airline? I know commuting won't work, but it would be nice to be able to escape the heat once in a while.

A better question might be if anyone knows whether or not Scenic has reciprocal jumpseat agreements with anyone? Cass only opens up that extra seat in the cockpit provided you already have a jumpseat agreement (or if the captain is cool, which happens).

I'm thinking if the pay came up, their FO shortage probably wouldn't be as bad. Based on guarantee, PCL pays roughly $500 a month more. That pay is only marginally better than Great Lakes pay if you go with the $1296 a month. Either way you cut it, it's still turbine with pax in the back.

I think Pilot602 worked there for a while, and if I remember correctly he said there were some LOOOOONG days involved.

I'm just thinking, and this is not specific to this airline/charter company at all. The salary made me think.

min is 1300 a month before taxes. living in NV near las vegas area, how the hell can you find an apt to live in and eat? lol

Like I said, this isn't specific to these guys, just the numbers made me 'think' lol I mean I thought like 2 grand was bad in Regionals.

I'd probably do it to build hours... but thats it, i'd be out of there after.

how are those Twin Otters btw? I don't know much about those planes at all.

Jumpseat Agreements (Pilots & Dispatchers)--DAL, HP, USA, AK, SWA, NWA, etc.

Yea, with that type of pay, your in it for 4 months tod until you can apply at a regional.

Probably going to apply though after I get my me com. What's the price of a cheap place out there?
