Lesson for all those considering joining

Please feel free to elaborate on your career in the military....

Here we go again.

Hi, Private First Class (or whatever you may be these days) Large. I'm Lloyd Williams.

I was a Sergeant in The Marine Corps when you were in Middle School.

0311/0331/6123

(For those that aren't familiar, that's rifleman/machine gunner/H-53 Intermediate Level Powerplant Technician).

8 Years worth.

Honorably Discharged.

Now, why don't you elaborate on your career in the military - I'm looking forward to it.

Avatar and location to go on only, I'd guess skywestseth is a WO1 in Army flight school at Ft. Rucker, AL. He's probably a former NCO - most warrants in flight school are - but he could be one of the few high school to flight school guys.

And Seth, for some reason newer people come here and routinely challenge/ question Lloyd's military service. Not sure why that is, but he's legit.

How's Larry's these days, Seth? I miss that good ol' BBQ.

He's a Marine. Getting questioned makes him all warm 'n fuzzy inside! Collect 'em all! :)

Yeah, I guessed from this post, he was still a PFC. That was a while ago - so, he's been in for what, a year or two now? I hope they're teaching Warrants not to act like 2nd Lt's these days . . . I'm thinking not, though.

It really does . . . and I can feel the blood rising to my head!!:buck:

It's all good... we all gotta start somewhere!

When I was an enlisted guy I ragged on LTs relentlessly. Serves me right, since I eventually became one.

Man, I thought those were MC marching band MOS ratings. Just kidding. ;)

Go figure. I'm sure we all loved our jobs, but the people, and the egos and control happy MSgt's are ruining the Air Force weather career field.

It was the same at the MX Squadron I was a part of. The only way to get out of there was to Palace Chase into the reserves. PCS-ing is extremely difficult because so many people want to get out of there.

Surreal,

Out of four year's (I respect your service by the way) two recruiters messing with your stuff and working for some MSGT's in no way constitutes such "career of lies." And nobody is being high and mighty, some level headed individuals would like to put dramatic statements such as "career of lies" into perspective.

Seatclutcher,

Your right, you didnt technically run around, you did however get on a forum with 5,390 members and tell us about your "interview" with the recruiter. Yes you did fail to set the scene because, it came off as though you were seriously asking him those questions for you "interview." Anyways by rebroadcasting what he said, you are just making him look bad, which in turn makes the service he represents look bad, and some of that service happens to be young men and women fighting for their lives in Iraq. I can't see where that would help the situation in which our country is involved in.

MTSU_AV8R,

Have we had a previous conversation before?

Hi, Lloyd Williams. I'm W01 Large.
Thank you for your honorable service rendered while I was in middle school. You had quite a wide range of jobs, and 8 years worth.

I also spent some time in the infantry, little over two years worth, and then I went to Flight School, an additional 7 years worth, time committed.

"there is a whole lotta truth to that"

You didn't specifically mention but was there any "career of lies" in your 8years of service? I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this statement.

Ian J,

Larry's is great! One of the few Southern Alabama treasures, that and boiled peanuts .

I wasn't questioning his career disrespectfully, I just didn't see anything regarding his service in his profile.

She happens to understand quite a bit about soldiers, and knows a little something about the "young men and women fighting for their lives in Iraq."

She did a free-lance interview about a protest in front of a recruiting station and talked to both the protesters and the recruiters. Trust me, the protesters came off like idiots and the recruiters were professional. She in no way made the recruiter or the service look bad.

And many, many of those 5390 member you speak of know SeatClutcher, know about her writing, her views, and her work.

And if she interviewed a recruiter who DID show his ass and sounded stupid, should she not write about it and publish it?

LOL, that was a decent article, we could have cut a large portion of this thread out if that info was included in the original post.... Going on the info that was posted, and without knowing seatclutcher, I was to believe this is some young kid poking around and "writing" articles based on some type of influence he derived from his parents or michael moore....

Now that we put that into perspective, Seatclutcher, that was a nice piece of work... Watada on the other hand.... :o

Couldn't tell you, Sir.

Sure did.

If you can't take a fact from somebody that knows better, then there's nothing more I can do for you.

Sir.

Let's just say there there was quite a bit of lying going on.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining, and I had the time of my life. That being said, anybody that's going to make a decision to serve needs to understand that not everyone in the military leadership and/or recruiting system is honest.

Lloyd,

I am in know way questioning your military service, and I think we both agree that there is some...sub par leadership, but to use the term "career of lies" I think is overly dramatic, this is the one and only point I am trying get get across... and while some are not honest, there are many many outstanding honest soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen in our armed forces...you know just as well as anyone else who did 8 years.

and it's seth by the way

Lloyd,

Well, in your initial post you did - but I'm not offended by that. I can back my stuff up.
but to use the term "career of lies" I think is overly dramatic

OK, so maybe not to you. But, for me, I experienced consistent lies and dishonesty for 8 years.

Doesn't mean that the people are screwed up - it's institutionalized.

. . . there are many many outstanding honest soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen in our armed forces . . .

I agree 100% The people are great - the organization, as a whole, is screwed. Always has been, always will be. ESPECIALLY the recruiting command.
