Your biggest Pet Peeves

-I hate preconcieved notions. Making assumptions about other people based on their job, etc. Example, assuming that all pilots are rich with 20 days off a month, or assuming that all flight attendants are ditzy, stupid girls out to sleep with every pilot they fly with. Take the time to learn about something or someone before making judgements.

Amen! Making pre-conceived notions about anyone ranks right up there at the top of my list of pet peeves, along with people who don't treat others with respect, watching co-workers treat other co-workers in a condescending manner, etc.

Another couple:

"Is this your route?"

"You know this guy named John, he works for Delta and is hubbed in Baton Rouge"

"I probably have more time in the air than most of you pilots, that's what my travel agent said"

"You must have a girlfriend in every station!"

("Yeah, have I introduced you to my wife standing right beside me?")

-People who walk/run in the street in our neighborhood. We have nice wide sidewalks on both sides of every street, and yet people choose to walk in the street and make traffic swerve around them! Use the sidewalks!

Cement sidewalks are really hard on the joints. Blacktop is much better, especially when you get older. Sorry about getting in your way!

:D

I guess why it bugs me so much is because in our old neighborhood in Chicago, there were only sidewalks beside the main road that went through the neighborhood. On the side-streets of the neighborhood there were no sidewalks. I was always nervous walking with the strollers in the street because I didn't want to be in the way of traffic. When we moved to Indy, I was exstatic to see our neighborhood has beautiful wide sidewalks on every street! Thank you for pointing out a reason why someone would choose the street over the sidewalk :)

1. Kids that are left to run around wherever they want (read on my grass).

2. When the dog gets between the remote, and whatever you are aiming it at.

3. People that have to have an opinion on everything.

4. Shows that document lifestyles of rich people. Thanks for showing me how much I am missing out on.

5. Gallon of milk with a splash left in it.

Hey, this is not some new airline screening test is it? I think we all failed.

Drivers who get mad at you for surprising them when they fly through a parking lot intersection at 20 mph.

Drivers who can't figure out the 4-way stop and insist that you go first. Fine, if you missed the count, a little wave is fine but I get this ALL THE TIME. Even if only two cars are present. They stop and sit there while I pull up and stop. Technically, there's no legal way to use hand signals to transfer the right-of-way. Man, I wish I could tell the people who really need to hear this!

- People who make a crisis out of the insignificant

- People who think that they are the only one who can be right

- People who do not respect the fragility of life

- People who are not open to new ideas

- People who cannot take a joke

- People who cannot apologize

- People who are too wrapped up in themselves to actually stop and enjoy the sunset

- That my appliances always break when I need to use them

People who know everything, if you did it, they've done it (better), if you have been there, they've been there (at least twice), anything you are going through, they've been there, done that. Uuuuugh!!!! drives me crazy!!!!!!!!

People who wear Bluetooth headsets when they don't need a free hand to answer the phone with (walking down the street, in a store, at a restaurant dinner table).

Oh, man - that's like being annoyed by people that drive cars when they have two good legs to walk on!

:p

Microsoft Word -> Change Case! :)

OK, OTP... you made me laugh on this one. Why? The Cessna I originally soloed in (about 20 years ago) was, no kidding, 2554Q!!!! But I promise you--that wasn't me you heard!

I knew I'd offend whoever had flown that airplane;)

I missed the numbers part but distnictly remember the " uh, Q" part and listened in to the rest of the transmission.

1. Teh TSA!

2. Crusty old pilots who don't think the rules of the FAA apply to them.

3. CSA's who like to give nonrevs all the middle seats or all the rear seats in the mad dog. The MD-88's have three classes; FC, coach, and nonrev.

4. CSA's who wait till the last minute to clear nonrevs even thought there have been 100 open seats and 10 nonrevs.

5. Pilots who are habitual gripe writers. It's sad when your name is know by everyone in the mx department including the VP.

6. Pilots who listen to passengers. I had a pilot call in for a mech to come look at the nose wheel because a passenger said it looked low.:banghead:

7. Passengers who get up when the seat belt sign is on while the aircraft is getting bumped around by turbulence. Duh, it on for a reason!:yar:

1. Inconsiderate people: This means you, and sometimes me too.

2. Trendy pets: Puggles, labradoodles, peekapoos, rottbulls, etc. It's a 8+ year commitment to an living, feeling thing that depends on you for food, care, guidance, and love. It's not a fricking fashion accessory or an extension of your penis.

3. Weak coffee: I need the caffeine, and I want to taste it.

4. Weak mojitos: I want the alcohol, and I need to taste it.

5. Well-done steak: Try it medium or medium-rare, just once. You'll actually taste beef, instead of the dry, chewy, denatured remains of what once was beef, but is now a form of jerky.

6. Domestic beer (except during any lake, river, or beach activity.): Self-explanatory.

7. Steak sauce (see #5)

8. Customer service people who have been on the job more than a few months: Want to get anything done? Find a newbie.

9. Crocs: Ugliest shoes ever worn by mankind. Muklucks pale in comparison. If you want to walk around looking like Ronald McDonald's illegitimate love child, that's your business. None for me, thanks.

10. Bluetooth earpieces: Aimlessly wandering the streets and terminals talking too yourself and occasionally laughing at nothing in particular is the province of shopping-cart pushers and window-lickers. Go hang with them, trendyboy, but for god's sake, get out of the way. I'm trying to get to my gate.

One guy demanded that the engine be inspected because he saw oil stain marks on the wing.

I told him that it was lubrication grease from the flap/slat mechanism.

"Oh no! I've got 30 hours, I know when I see an oil leak"

"But sir, it's an MD-8... awww, nevermind"
