I love teh 1900

After working around the 1900 for the past week (sitting in the cockpit a couple of times) and flying down to BOS an back on BigSky last night, I have found my calling.

I LOVE the 1900. It RokrZ!!!111!!!

Seriously Screw the Jets.

I don't need 6 TVs to fly an airplane.

A 1900 driver is a pilot, an RJ driver is a systems manager.

Once I get my stuff done and fly scenics and CFI for a bit, I'm holding out for Colgan, or Big Sky.

The 1900 is a fun plane to fly.

After giving a CRJ-200 a headstart of 2000ft in altitude - we were cleared to takeoff behind the CRJ - we beat the CRJ to 17,000ft - as we were leveling at 17000ft, the CRJ was 3000ft below us on its way to FL290. Of course the CRJ totally smoked us in airspeed - everything overtakes us in a 140kt climb.
 
Sweet post. I can describe just about every system on the Beech in detail (for the most part ;) ). Next week I'll be able to fly it too. :D

You damn dairy loving Skyway guys. Doug there was a ten minute lag between my response your next post, did you get up and get your Skyway Company Manual to ask these questions ;)? My buddy has one and has some AWESOME information on there. He is in AUG Maine as we speak with an early show tommorow, I am in ALB so not cheating for me!

Why does Big Sky start both engines (#1 in feather) THEN disconnect the GPU?:confused:

All I have to say is someone is going to walk forward and it ain't gonna be pretty.:eek:


That is extremely stupid that they have an operation like that.

Let me preface this story by saying that the gate agent, the one that normally handles the GPUs was hurt because of surgery. The 'Flight Attendant' was doing the ramp work, that included loading bags...

We were having generator problems one day a few months ago. The Captain was a 'company guy' and they wanted him to start one, then have me disconnect the GPU and then start number two, he would then shut down one and I would get in.

When he said that he wanted to start number one THEN have me disconnect the GPU, I laughed in his face went inside and had another cup of coffee.

Having a big fan blade spinning a that close to your body limbs as you try to fiddle around with a GPU IS NOT safe.

I will NOT ask or make any ramp personal or First Officer to be around the number one engine playing with the GPU.

You remember a lot from your Beechy days! I have been studying for my upgrade and it is amazing how much one forgets even though I operate the dang thing 5-6 days a week sometimes.


I like it "Stability Augmentation package". They got the design from the F-4

The reason I asked the question about the engine gage and AC power is there is a story behind it that you can relate too.

There was a street captain (never flew the Beech till my company) I was flying with when he straight out of IOE. We land after the first leg and he is looking at the engine torque gages. He starts getting out the MX Log and starts to write it up. I ask him what is wrong and he says both prop meters are stuck at 2000 pounds of torque and he needs to write them up.

I say, nah turn on the battery and inverters. Then turn the inverters off. They became 'unstuck'.

I have weird brain, I'm not sure if I mentioned it in my 767 training blog or not, but my short term memory kind of sucks, but my long-term memory is strangely good.
