I'm going to start taking bets....

Normally, Kristie, I'd agree...however, a guy at Colgan, who was just bought out by Pinnacle, would not normally have a "competitor's" airplane as an avatar. They are all (quite possibly) being used against each other, and somebody is going to put that as an avatar? I don't even have my dream company as an avatar, due to the fact that somebody at my current company may see it and know my future plans. How would it look for somebody at a "small family company" like Colgan to have basically a competitor for NWA's business as his "online persona"?

I chose it to commemorate my Pinnacle Brothers and Sisters, since I do fly a Saab 340 for Colgan owned and operated by Pinnacle Air Holdings.

Simply The Best......

I personally enjoy a little frienly debate, and have no quarrels about keeping my respects for the people on here and the JC community.
Things in this line of business are not always cotton-dry, and if people here are going to make sensationalist claims or comments I do feel they are opening themselves up to debate.
I am more than willing to discuss my points and perspectives, I thought thats what this community is all about.
no.. this community is about helping people out ("paying it forward" as we call it)...not arguing/debating like FI or APC. seems to me that it's your way or the highway, everyone else's opinion be damned. If a majority of people tend to disagree in a debate, shouldn't that give you something to think about?

i dunno, i always thought it was just a picture. but if you all think that's how it is and/or should be, then consider my perspective changed. :)

How long has it been since Pinnacle flew a prop? Isn't that a Mesaba aircraft? Or an old picture?

It's not about debate fine, and I can see that the community is all about helping one another out. I just don't like seeming my fellow pilot put down, thats what this thread was all about.
Telling that 500 hour pilot that he/she was going to crash a plane because of their lack of expierence. Everyone of us was that 500 hour pilot at one point in our lives. Telling them that the 500 hour mins were okay for us, but too low for them is a major put down anyway you look at it.
If this community is truly about helping out their fellow pilot, which I know it is, then we should not label the low time guys on here as liabilites or hazards.

ok, i realize i'm not a pilot just a simple pilots wife...but honestly, i don't get it. I know enough to know enough and something seems wrong with this statement.

why not? you want to talk truth right? let's talk truth...250 hr guys now want to move straight from CFIing/learning/timebuilding to flying a jet with passengers....the point of the thread is things like that shouldn't happen because they're not READY to be in command at low hours like that...the point of the thread is to try and change folks perspective to help raise the bar, get better QOL, pay and experience in both and left and right seat. The point is, people who were at 500hr and got hired learned a valuable lesson and are admitting that they were not ready for the responsibility even though they thought they were. at least that's my understanding...

First, I have NO beef with ANY one on here. I have helped people get hired with 'low time' and will do it again if I can. Trust me we will get along fine. There is a HUGE difference between getting along and how the industry is today. We are all professionals and I have beef with the industry allowing low timers into the cockpit, not the individual person.

This does not pertain to jetcareers.com members but I will post it anyway. If that person does think that they deserve an airline job at 250 hours well then, I will have beef with you. In life we deserve nothing. We work for what we get.

No double standard. When I went to interview I did not see what I see today. I kept an open mind, grew my opinions and have formed an opinion that I have today as time went by and I learned and experienced things.

If you are low time, apply, get that job!

Hopefully, then that will put you in a position to advocate for what you believe in.

I am NOT pointing the finger at the low time guy! I am pointing the finger at the industry!

at least that's my understanding...

Your understanding is correct!

sorry buddy... but the type of avatar people use shouldn't make a difference in anything. it's a picture, nothing more, nothing less.

But to me that would be like playing for the Cowboys but you are sporting a picture of the Forty-Niners.

Pinnacle used to fly Saabs a while back.....
Colgan operates a fleet of Saabs.....
Pinnacle Holdings bought Colgan Airlines...

It is a picture of a Saab painted in the old Pinnacle paint scheme

I cannot even imagine how that can be offesive

I agree 250 hours is low, but I'm not addressing 250 hours as being low.
I personally agree with that.
The 500 hour pilots are more then qualified if they have been receptive, dedicated, and remain knowledgable to the expierence they have gained.

Expierence is only as valuable as what you learn from it.

I don't see a corelation of how increasing hiring minimums will raise the bar, improve QOL, and increase pay. I'm sure alot of people on here would be upset if the airlines decided to change upgrade minimums increasing to 3,000 TT. The minimums have lowered in years in response to the needs of the industry, and we all have benfited it from this in one way or another.
There is a point where it gets to low, I agre with this, 250 hours is the absolute lowest they can go and I don't agree with it. 500 hours does seem acceptable to me, in my expierence though.
