Turbo Prop Pilots

Jace you might be the only person I've ever met who has said that the Bose were anything less than stellar.

Personal grudge against Bose? What do you currently use?

I used them once for about an hour myself, and didn't really fancy them, especially for the $1k price tag. I borrowed them from a guy who won them in a drawing at Osh Kosh. Maybe you just need to put a little more time in than an hour.

What was it about them that you didn't like?

Somepeople swear by the Bose (me) as where others (JTA) hates them with a passion.

To each his own.

A few students of mine had the Bose, and one guy I flew with on a cross country had nothing but problems with his. One time he forgot batteries and when his died, the guy couldn't hear anything the noise was so loud. He ended up wearing the cheap ones that are kept in the back of the airplane for the rest of the flight. I guess the Bose doesn't do a very good job of protecting your ears when the ANR doesn't work.

Looking at the Pilot headset, it appears as though that headset offers very good protection in the event the ANR shuts off. The Bose looks comfortable, and my students claimed they were, but they seemed like they were also fiddling with the cords and batteries.

H10-13X for me, love 'em. ANR is good, and passive is good too if the ANR battery fails.

I dont know how they would be in a turboprop-I have only flown in pistons with them on.

The ANR on the Lightspeed was great. But after about a year and a half of wearing it, I couldn't take the clampy feeling of it any more. I guess it just didn't fit my head properly.

Let's see....I'm looking at my calendar here.....yep, it is indeed time for our regularly-scheduled headset thread.

Carry on. :yar:

I hate the Bose. They feel like a vice on my head.

I love my Lightspeeds, on the other hand.

Hey who asked you . . . the post was for t-prop pilots:laff:

You wanna feel a vice on your head . . . just keep on piping up you . . .you . . . why you . . :yar:

Oh but my friend I recently took a Beech 99 SIC ride, so I am now finally, in fact, a turboprop pilot :)

It really hurt to let 'em go, but the X11's had to go back. I just couldn't fly without my sunglasses!

I was just having this discussion with SmitteyB earlier. It does seem to be a recurring conversation around here doesn't it?? :)

That is exactly the reason that I went with the pilots because they have the great ANR capabilities and their passive protection is near that of the heavy DC's
