I am new to this forum and the reason I am here is because my boyfriend's birthday is coming up. He is a student pilot and he has been wanting a pilot watch for quite some time. I'm not sure what to get him though. I googled pilot watch, aviator watch, etc. and got a lot of results, however I want to get him a good watch that he'll be able to use for years. I was hoping to come here to get some input. I found this one by Archimede http://www.gnomonwatches.com/archimedePilotChronograph.html. I think it looks great and I think he'd love it. Any thoughts? Thank you for reading and I hope to hear your thoughts!!!

Jessie, is that you? :rotfl:

My girl friend wants to get me a pilot watch for my birthday on the 17th. :nana2:

lol. Its not here. She wouldnt post it here. I have mentioned jetcareers to her several times but I am not sure if she is really listening heh.

And she would never consider buying me that 800 buck watch she posted.

I like 3 pilot watches.

Citizens Blue Angell Ecodrive
Seiko pilot watch that has the light up digital time as well.
Seiko Analog pilot watch

When you are flying at night are you able to see the time clearly?

Not unless you have a flashlight. It does have glow strips on the numbers and hands however they lose juice after just a couple of minutes of being in the dark.

Thats why I am leaning towards the heavy Seiko one with the light up digital display.

The Archimede is a very nice watch and smart looking too. If that is what he would like and your budget allows it, go for it. You may be able to find the same watch at another site for a lower price. He will wear it all the time, so it should be something HE likes.

This is mine.

Worth every penny I paid for it.

I bought DH the Revue Thommen Airspeed Chronograph in titanium. I have a Breitling which is my everyday watch to my Movado evening watch. The Breitling is a pain in the neck for travel as it sets off the security alarms due to the gold. So it will get left behind more often since I'm not the one bypassing security!

I've been using a Timex Expedition for years - like, at least 10.

I've never passed a checkride because of it, I've never loaded the freight faster because of it, and I've never avoided ice because of it.

IT'S A WATCH!!

I'd understand if you said, "I'd like a nice watch . . . "

But, a pilot watch? What about pilot shoes? And pilot pencils? Maybe some of those pilot eating utensils for the house?
