Pilot watch... which one?

not that it isnt popular...its EXPENSIVE! I would love one though....not a aviators watch but look up the "big bang" i forget who makes it but it was pretty much as cool as a watch can get.

ok a little research...HUBLOT

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE INPUT

That was my lovely FlyGirl1! I recieved the Citizen SkyHawk in Titanium for my B-Day and love it. Hoping the weather improves over KBUF so I can get it in the air. Thank you all, especially FlyGirl ;)

Aye, that's a good one! I picked mine up in december for about 250 + s/h.

Titanium sucks in that it isn't a hard metal: I cringe whenever I ding it somewhere. It's an awesome watch thought!

But not the cocktail lounge, hey! :)

Scarily, a lot of JC'ers, including myself have this watch:

And I got mine from hmewatch.com.
tis what i have and the E6-B works great for quick GS checks

I know this is an old thread... and congrats to Trav on the new Citizen... but I thought... what the heck... I'll throw in my watch too.

7 years old and the Tritium Gas Capsules still glow as bright as can be...

A damn fine watch... thank you very much! ;)

This has been my favorite Since 1980. A Glycine Airman 8. Actually mine is a slightly older model, but nearly identical. What I like is the ability to view local time for any hour during the day and see the corresponding time in UTC directly adjacent to it (and vice versa). The Airman 8 has a third time zone at the red hand. Many watches have two or more time zones, but they only allow you to see the time for the other zones just at the present time. e.g. if the current time is 1315 local, it is 1815 Z. With the Glycine, if the current time is 1315 local, I can still see what the Z time will be at 1900 local for example. Really helpful when you are trying to compare the hours posted in NOTAMS to local time, or hours of operation in the AF/D.

The watch I like is http://www.falconwatch.com/, which is understated, not ostentatious or kind of nerdy looking like most of those. No "big watch" syndrome problems, either. Looks good, dressy, but covers all the time zones, keeps great time. Had mine since before Falcon bought the company, almost 20 years now. Mine is actually a Glycine (as referenced above, but GMT 2001), but they sold out to Falcon.

Seagull,
Nice to hear from another Glycine fan. Mine is an Airman 1 that was discontinued in 1978. In 1979 I bought an Airman 1 that was still in stock from Glycine Sales and Service, now known as Falcon Watch as you mentioned. It was lost and in 1981 I tried to order another. Werner Siegrist at Falcon had no more Airman 1's and I was not interested in a quartz model, so, being an authorized service center, he built mine from his stock of parts. Makes it seem a little special to me. It hasn't been opened since I bought it and I'm sending it back to Werner for a little tending loving care.

I highly recommend them.

Bought this one about a month or so ago:

It's solar powered and receives the time calibration signal from the atomic clock. I haven't had the opportunity to use it flying too much yet, but I've got world time set to GMT so I can see both zulu and local time. The backlight can also be set to come on automatically when you angle your wrist to check the time. By setting your longitude and latitude and it will give you sunrise and sunset times, and it has a "bearing sensor" as well.

I've had 2 watches since I was 17 years old...I'm 36 now. Both were a $29 Timex! The current one is a Timex Ironman...I think it needs a new battery though. It's great...I can golf with it and wear it to dinner.

I had a $20 casio, but just upgraded to a $33 dollar timex ironman, I love it! I can't get over how many pilots I saw at the CFI level, AMF, and now Skywest that have $5000 breitlings or rolex's! How embarassing!! Everyone knows how little you make...chumps!

Actually, only other pilots (only informed pilots too) know how little they make. Everyone else thinks they've got more money than God.
