Time to buy some luggage!

Any suggestions on what brand to get? I will be flying the CRJ I was told that purdy neat luggageworks 22' stealth is a great model for that airplane. Any advice and/or comments appreciated.
 
Who did you get hired by?

The luggage works will last forever. If it is not over stuffed it fits fine in the overheads. It's probably a must if you commute, especially on an RJ.

The rampers hate those things so they have to be kind to them. Unlike some if the lighter bags that are easy to sling around. Trust me, I know about that bit a little too well.:D

SkyWest, February 12th RJ Class, thank you for the tip. I have some mentors that are TWA/American and they said purdy neat luggageworks are like tanks. I appreciate the feedback. keep it coming, I can't decide which model. Stealth,Suiter,737NG..... Any idea which model? I hear metal frame is the way to go. Thanks again.
 
Metal frame all the way.

The 28" is probably a bit much. I don't see why you'd get the 737NG, less space for the same amount.

Go with the 22" stealth, esppecially if you commue on a mainline plane. The F/As won't despise your guts for taking all the overhead space, especially if it's a MD80.
 
We have 22" stealth bags and in the 10 yrs doug's been on the line, we've only had to replace his bag once. There have been a few times that a zipper has broken off (they're not the most sturdy) or the metal clip has been mangled in cargo but you can send it back to luggageworks for repair or find a good cobbler (shoe repair guy) that can fix it for you fairly cheaply.

I second the reccomendation for the Costco bag, they replace it for free life time and it's very similar to eBags.

eBags! I am extremely hard on luggage and beat up several PNTCO bags before I found this:

It has changed a little since I got it but I've had mine for over 6 years and just last week they sent me new axles and wheels for free! It also holds a lot more than it looks like it will, I take mine out for 9 days in a row with no problems. It's also very light compared to the PNTCO or Luggage works bags.

Whatever brand you get, do NOT get TravelPro. TravelPro is fine for the occasional traveller, but it does not hold up to crew (especially regional crew) usage.

My old-school hardside Samsonite held up to everything I threw at it. Or everything I threw it at..... It made a great stepstool, chair, backrest, a very multi-useful thing. I don't even know if the model I have is even made anymore.

Bill has the Costco bag. It's over a year old now, and has held up very well. It's cheap, the guarantee can't be beat, and it holds everything you need for a week.

I heard they guarantee this lifetime replacement for the Ipod too? Any truth to this? If so my next Ipod purchase will be at Costco.

I need to address some luggage issues this week, too. My leather flight bag is ready for the bottom to fall out of it at any time...and my steel framed PurdyNeat(sp??) overnight bag is in about the same condition. I got almost ten years out of them....not bad for the suitcase...thought the flight kit would have held up better.
 
Bill's had the Scott's Leather kit bag since he was a new hire at DL. It's the one with the handles that are one continuous piece that wrap around the bottom and come up the other side (did that make sense? maybe I should find a picture). It helps keep the weight of the bag on those straps/handles, and not on the bottom of the bag itself.

I think I know exactly what you are talking about. That's probably a more supportive set-up. We all all need more support to hold us together as we get older, you know....I'm about to go to a knee brace for the basketball court! Well...maybe not just yet.
