Gulfstream Academy's Shrinking Classes

Don't mess with the Russians. They'll slip some polonium in your sushi and really ruin your afternoon.

speaking of, any bets to how long it takes for that sushi restaurant to go out of business? It seems every report that ABC has done about it, has the reporter standing right outside.

Brian. Don't worry about it. One of my favorite things to do when I'm really bored. And I gotta be really bored. Is to go over to FI, search for Gulfstream, and give the Russian a piece of my mind. Great entertainment and I think it's serving a good purpose.

Shhhh!!!! We're not supposed to mention FI or that such a site even exists. It apparently starts to make the JC faitful nervous.

I think you misunderstand. We know about FI, and understand that many people go to both. Not a problem (speaking for myself, not Doug or JC here). The thing that I want to avoid, as a mod, is getting into those "did you see what the idiots at FI said" kind of posts. That does nothing except get things stirred up both here and there, and just promotes in-fighting. Don't need that kind of drama.

It's not like FI (or any other aviation site) is verboten to talk about. It is just that there are very few conversations about those sites that do anything positive. It's not about us -vs- them, and personally I'd like it to stay that way.

All of the aviation related sites tend to have different "personalities" and strengths and weaknesses, and there is plenty of room on the 'net for us all. Shoot, I'm active on other sites besides this one also. :)

To add on to what SteveC said, we also had a bad problem for a period of time with "Look at what those dorks on Airliners.net said: http://airliners.net/link/to/forum/post can you believe it?"

People go to the other website to call them poopyheads, then those people come to this website to call us dummyheads, and it just ends up being a big pain in the ass.

I've been doing this forum thing for almost seven years and it gives you a sixth sense.

Ahh, I see

What purpose is that? All this PFT talk does not make sense to me. No matter what, you pay for it one way or the other. If you came from the military you paid for it with your life (that is IF you made it as a pilot there, less than 5% do). If you went the instructor route you paid for your ratings and while instructing you also put your life on the line. And if you went to these fast track programs you paid for it. Bottom line is no matter where you went and what you paid for, the airlines will hire you if you pass their interview and their training. But if you have Turbine Time and Part 121 experience you have the edge no matter what. There are hundreds, no thousands of pilots out there flying and are happy doing it. Thats why they paid for it one way or another. Even Airline Captains have sent their kids through these programs and have no complaints. The only ones complaining are bitter pilots. And if you are flying and bitter get a real job. Hey maybe you can PFT as a Doctor or a Lawyer. Wake up and smell the coffee.

would that be foldgers, sanka or brim?? :)

:nana2:

oh but paying for it with time and effort is a hella lot different than paying for it with money....there's sweat/tears in the time/effort zone... no sweat/tears in the money zone cuz all you have to do is stick out your credit limit.

bitter pilots are not the only ones complaining.. it's the pilots that paid for their time...EARNING just due rewards through blood, sweat and tears... working their way up the ladder along with everyone else whereas those who pay for it with money don't have that same disadvantage...

why should PFTers get any respect from any pilot who worked their asses off for their dream?

You do know, of course, that making your first post on JC one that is supportive of Gulfstream style programs will make people wonder what route you took/are taking/will take.

And I believe that you are mistaken about "bitter" pilots being the ones that are negative about those programs. I think that you will find that it is the pilots that understand how these programs devalue the piloting profession that are the most vocal against them.

Im just looking at the Gulfstream site out of curiosity and I see that to start the "First Officer Training Program" you must already have a Commercial License and an Insrument Rating BEFORE dropping $29900 to start this "Training Program". So after you have paid for your ratings, which at todays prices can easily be $25-30,000 on its own, you pay the same amount again. I know instructors here at UVSC that have been hired at the same airlines that gulfstream has "exclusive hiring programs" with after instructing for 12-18 months and having spent literally half as much. How does this "get there first"?

This will be my 4th semester at Gulfstream, Fun For all ages. It gets you into the right seat of an AIRLINER. IF E=Mc2 then heck if i know! This was a no brainer. Im getting some hard IFR time in NAssau, are you getting hard iFR??? Mom and dads condo is sweet, and im living the dream! How can you debate that

Four months ago I would have thought, "WTF?" but now after NJC2006, it's too funny!
