Captain Doug Taylor? (actually FO on the 767ER)

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

Not to contradict you Doug, but the most jr Capt I can find is NYC88A with a DOH of 04/02/98. Since I'm a Jan 2000 hire, , I would be most happy to be wrong, but.....

Someone said 5097 was a 2000 hire. Lemme check.... Yup, April 1998. Sorry!

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

Just before 9/11, one of the most senior guys in Bill's new-hire class (Oct 99) held 73 Express CA out of MCO. Obviously he got bumped back to F/O in all the hullballoo that followed.

ATL M88 CA would be worth the commute, but not NYC 88 CA. I did that commute (IND-NYC) for 6 months when I was with AA, and it was murder. The only thing that would make commuting to JFK worth it for the ER would be if he was a line-holder (no short call!), and that the ER is only one airport.

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

The good thing about NYC 88 is that it's "shuttle" flying out of LGA so you really shouldn't have to worry a whole lot about covering all three airports the way a 73N guy does. I haven't looked at a bid package at the NYCM88 so I really don't know for sure.

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

AWE Shucks!! I read it too quickly and well...just figured. Blah!

Anyways. . . it's still a SEVEN SIX!!!!!111 :)

Congrats boss!

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

Good stuff Doug - I am delighted for you!! Are they mostly 24 hour turns, you better hope so or Kristie will quit her job and be your travel buddy!
ahhhh yea... it's too late for that....i'm already going to be the consistent travel buddy as most of his layovers will be on the weekends (for a while) and should be at least 36 hrs, i think....

plus, now that he's achieved his dream, it's my turn and he knows it and what "it" is! :)

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

As far as the layover goes, 98% of what my dad does is 24 ish hours. Red-eye overon the first night, wait 24 hours, take the next plane back, getting in on the third afternoon.

The longer layovers are in the destinations that are not flown daily.

Not so fast on the "no early reports" You gotta wake up around 300am east coast time to come back. So thats 100am PHX time.

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

Congratulations and felicitations, fine sir! I know you'll enjoy a hell of a good time on the 7ER. And between US/HP, B6, and DL, you should have a decent time with the commute (hopefully).

And not to rain on your parade, but does this mean working weekends, being the bunkie, and Accra layovers? Or SVO in winter? Don't forget your yellow fever shot!

Russ

P.S.: Your next challenge is to learn 1 or more foreign languages like the 7ER driver who flew us CDG-JFK back in Oct. Made all his announcements in French, believe it or not! (Do you speak Russian or Ghanaian?)

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

I'm passable in French and speak with a touch of a Bavarian accent in broken German.

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

I'm wondering the same thing............ :nana2:

No, No, No.....You guys have it all wrong. Kristie loves to travel too much and a baby would put a damper on the non-rev to Europe type thing. I am going to say it has something to do with leaving her engineering job and possible some type of travel-book authoring or something. I'd search the threads, but I recall something of the sort. Come-On Kristie. Do tell.... :D

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

Congrats, Doug!

Amber already told you I wimped out, cause I don't want to commute...YET.

Seeing 24 junior to me added to the others who are there, I now stand a chance of not being on reserve which would make the commute tolerable.

Just remember the HMG is SOL without the ADP!

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

Congrats Doug!

Paywise, are you still considered an XXX year FA or do you have to go back to year 1 FA now that you are on the 767ER?

Thanks
