Captain Doug Taylor? (actually FO on the 767ER)

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

F/A is short for flight attendant, that's what I used to be.

F/O is short for First Officer, which is what our dear Dough is.

Your years of service never change. When you're a first year 88 F/O, you're a first year 88 F/O. 10 year later if you bid CA, you're now on 10 year CA pay.

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

OK, so what does Delta call their First Officers that are senior enough to hold Captain?

.

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

Congrats Doug!!!

Being here at SWA makes me envy those Heavy fliers.

Best of luck during your transition training.

Sorry about that, it was a typo. lol. Anyways, So wait, once you upgrade from FO to CA you do not have to start over at first year Captain?

So if I was hired in 1988, upgraded 5 years later to Captain, I will get 5 year captain pay?

So how would someone become a 1st year Captain then? Leave one captain airline job for another Captain airline job?

Thanks guys.

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

phunny, I'm watching some show on PBS and the dude on drums looks just like Doug! He's all happy and stuff slammin away.

Yes, if you upgrade, your seniority does not reset. Equipment would change, pay would change, but seniority does not change when you change seats or a/c?

Not too many people end up 1 yr CA, if so they are probably street CA's and that does not happen much that I am aware.

Ah I see. Thanks Jep.

Just more reason to find an airline that has good working conditions and QOL and stay there for a good amount of time. I dont see why upgrade time is sooooooo important. Sure, it helps you build PIC time and sure you get a solid pay raise but it is way better then leaving XXX airline and starting your seniority all over again.

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

Congtaz, Doug. The 767 is a nice airplane. Autolands are really cool. If you come up with any questions about the plane, let me know. We have 300ER's with GE engines. Can we expect more European JC meet and greets?

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

Does this mean you will also be flying 757 and the 767's non ER version or is it just 767-300/ER strictly?

Re: Captain Doug Taylor?

ahhhh yea... it's too late for that....i'm already going to be the consistent travel buddy as most of his layovers will be on the weekends (for a while) and should be at least 36 hrs, i think....

plus, now that he's achieved his dream, it's my turn and he knows it and what "it" is! :)

Sounds like Doug will be doing some shopping on Ebay.....whatever it is.......you can get "it" on Ebay. :D sry, couldn't resist.

Congrats Doug. The 76 is one sweeeet bird! As if you needed me to tell you that.

Exlusively 767-300ER's except for maybe the very occasional 757 for some South America flying.

I've been watching the bids of folks of my same seniority for the past year and it's all line-holding European trips. In Atlanta, I might be getting lots of Bogota!

Once I get the PM's fixed, I'll try to give some more details, but until then, this mysql crap is all consuming... GRRR.
