how your L7's comming along?

I've got one alternator. The thing with HIDs is they need 35amps to get started but only 5 to stay running, even less than regular headlights. So the strain on the electrical system is dang near nothing.

have you compared to your high beams? are they absolutely worthless now?

i am working on getting my lows/highs/fogs on all at the same time when i turn on the highs :D

Yeah, the highs are basically worthless now as far as brightness and distance goes. The beam pattern is better though. I have to buy separate kits. For comparison, normal halogen low beams put out 1000 lumens, highs are 1586. My HIDs put out 2650. That's as high as I can go with that color. I might get the whiter bulbs for the highs someday if I can find a deal like that again.

Also, GM in all their infinite wisdom in the 90s decided that it would be a good idea to turn off the low beams when you turn on the highs. STUPID!!!! If you really look at other cars though, they all do this now. They sell wiring harnesses to fix this though.

i am having a friend make up a harness for me, it will also help for when i get HIDs

btw: i put high beam bulbs in my lowbeams so they are really really freaking bright already, i just want more.....

btw: you can get HID kits off ebay for around 150

I know I spent months of research cause I wanted HIDs. I'm waiting when Walm Mart will have them available.

They do not recommend HIDs for high beams, cause it's not really healthy to switch the unit on and off. (selector use)
The best is when you have projectors i.e. the ones I have. Run HIDs on the low, a nice halogen on the high, and fogs.
I'm impressed with how my lights look, but I definitley would love to upgrade to HID.

Did you know they have HIDs for interior lighting too.

Unless you have those bi-xenon HIDs, then it'd be ok to have them.

I'm gona add some cheap autozone fog lights to my car one of these days. Given the boxyness of my car and square headlights, I think they'll fit in perfectly. They looked awesome on my blazer. I'll probably put yellow ones on there. Yellow is the only useful lighting color in bad weather. But I bet I'll change my mind in the interest of the way it would look and just throw some 100w H4s in there.

Yellow also helps on making contrast with the shades of objects on the ground. I know when I first put blue bulbs to test them, I realized the shadows sort of were harder to pick out and you couldn't really tell pot holes and rocks. Yellow doesn't look that cool though from spectators perspective, unfortunatley.
I'm gonna install moonflowers on my car next.

Haha, damn that would be the best under car lighting ever!!!!

I kinda like the yellow color if those are your only lights. I like the way the P1 class in lemans looks with the yellow lights.

Tom, I passed you today on University. I knew it was you because I saw these bright headlights coming at me with a purplish tint. Then I saw the grandma car I've seen in all the youtube movies...haha

i got my projector replacements for my stupid 7x6 sealed beams today... will post pics once i get home to install :-D

Yeah, I turned them on so MAYBE people would see me and NOT walk out in front of me on an icy road!!!! That didn't help anything. :insane::insane:

You'll enjoy them. Did you get HID bulbs and ballasts with it?

neg just some cheapo HID-look bulbs but hey for 30$ it sure beats my old sealed beam clunkers.

i cant get the halo portion to work though and it was too cold in my garage to continue ####ing with them, so i put it all back together and they look good, just the halo is INOP for now.
