I may have a job opportunity out of Hobby in the near future and if anyone has info on the Houston area would be great.

My buddy is from Houston which he says is why he now lives in southern cali. (mainly the weather)

My aunt travels all over the place for her job (south pacific, alaska, all over the U.S.) and says Houston is the worst, hottest, most humid place there is.

But if I had a good job oppurtunity there and I really wanted it, heck, I would go.
 
If you got a good job there go.....I had to do my XJT training there but try to avoid it otherwise.
 
I lived in Houston for a year and I miss it alot. Alot of fun to be had there, I got to the world series, and made life long friendships there. Are you goin to work with American Jet?, thats looks like an awesome place to work if so. Only suggestion I have is to be careful living around Hobby, crappy part of town.
 
The job is flying a Lear for a private company. So regardless of the city, I think it will be a good opportunity because of all the flying they do. Plus, it has several other planes in their flight department so there's a chance for movement.

Hopefully I can interview well and get the job.
 
houston sucks the big one. i would bend over and live there for a lear 45 job if i was in your position.

btw, how've you been?
 
I remember passing thru Houston around 4pm when Kristie, myself and The Beagle were moving from Florida to Arizona and telling him, "Oh, I think we'll be in San Antonio by 7pm! We'll do dinner!"

It sounds like your getting alot of opinions from people who have been here almost a whole 2 months.

Its not that bad. Is it hot? yes, its texas. Is it humid? yes, the gulf is rather close. Is traffic bad, i guess if you drive downtown during normal work commuting hours. Hobby is far enough south of the city you wont have to worry about much traffic.

Ive grown up here, in the clear lake area which is a suburb 30 miles south of the city. Hobby is about a 30 min drive down the freeway.

I certainly wouldnt turn down a good job just because "its in houston". Every city has its good and bad. PM me if you need any info on the area.

Concur. I"ve lived here for nine years, and I do enjoy the city. Plenty of opportunities to do things, Hobby is nice, yes, muggy as hell in the summer, but plenty of fun here especially given the fact we rarely if ever have to be concerned with ice.
