I flew a seminole into KATL

heh I didnt know a seminole could do 170 :D Seriously though congrats, feels good when you go into a big airport for the first time.

Cool!

I remember Rausda flew into ATL, he was pretty excited as well!

What type of speeds did they issue or did they just point you at the numbers on base and say "have at it!" ? :)

I flew into ATL quite a few times as a instructor. Problem was that we usually arrived around 11:30 AM and left around 4PM which isnt exactly the slowest time in Atlanta. Speeds of 180 to the marker was about the best we could do (in a decent) and on departure an immediate turn to the south and a see ya later! It was pretty cool when i looked behind us and a Delta MD-88 Captain had his window open and was waving at us. Probably looked ridiculous in line for T/O behind all the airliners.

First time coming out of Mercury they issued a taxi via "Dixie", and for a few moments I had no idea the Dixie meant Delta in ATL. My last trip to ATL as an instrucotr resulted in a call from ATL ATC to the chief pilot at FLightSAfety inquiring why exactly 3 seminoles were landing in ATL. THe chief pilot asked if we had done something wrong to which they replied. "no, but they created problems sequencing aircraft into the airport" I believe he said something about last time he checked ATL wasn't a private airport, have a nice day.

Now that I fly into and out of ATL everyday, I can see why it was a problem.

I wouldn't say this was my first big airport, but it was the biggest.

You know it's funny having Cessnas at the base I'm stationed at. We have a 12,100 ft runway, If I really wanted to I could probably satisfy the 90 day 3 take off and land requirements for passengers on 1 run :) :sarcasm:

They call theior delta taxiway "dixie" so they don't get confused with some kind of FBO or something that goes by the name of Delta.

Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but its due to all the Delta flights that go in and out of there.

I'll never forget being on final that day and wondering why there were so many large airplanes on the ground with a ridiculous purple paint scheme. Apparently Memphis isn't just a podunk redneck white trash southern town. It's a podunk redneck white trash southern town with a Fedex hub! :)
Ah...you remember my comrade! All day there were red and purple-n-white planes taxiing while we waited for that blasted heater to be fixed. :)
