I flew a seminole into KATL

Yea, I'm crazy!

Working on my CMEL, and needed a long cross country flight. Thought, where better to go than ATL?!! Well it was freaking amazing. Landed 26R, right next to the FBO, which was good. We had to take off 27R though, so we had some fun taxiing around with some big boys. Sitting in line for take off, something like #13, sandwiched in between a 717, and a 737. We could have been a taxi way light, we were so small.

We got cleared for take off, and were immediately cleared direct to Vero. Guess they wanted us out of their airspace ASAP :p

Over all was a great learning experience, and was just plain fun.

I took two of my friends up a couple of days ago and he filmed the entire landing starting at 5 miles out. The was really cool to see that point of view.
:)

I flew a 172 into LAX many times - yes it is cool, but it did seem like any other airport. They have this long thing you land on, it has numbers on it, you talk to some guy in tall building, and everyone around you is doing the same.

i was #17 or something in newark a couple days ago and we hear ground giving taxi instructions to a bonanza trying to find signature :)

one of the worst places for GA traffic has to be IAH though. The way they run departures there just isnt room to taxi to the FBO. I watched a gulfstream sit in line for 15R departures ahead of us for most of an hour just so he could get to the taxiway he needed to get to trajen.

Nice to be able to land at ATL! I've flown over it many times enroute or flying from FTY. :) I'd imagine there are landing fees at ATL, though. The only Class B airport I went to was MEM. That was a nice experience.

I've been into MCI, STL, and MEM. At first it seems really cool, but eventually it is just another airport.

Boy, that brings back memories. The landing fee is only like 5 bucks.

I've flown the nole in there about 3 times and used to fly the saratoga into there numerous times with my previous company.

It was fun going and playing with the big boys!

"What's with the rediculous uniform?"

At Flight Safety Academy, students have to wear a uniform.

Talking about little airplanes mixing it up with big airplanes. I fly 757's/767's into BFI once in a while and it's always sporting. Last time, we got three TCAS calls and one RA while on final. I know the airport, there, and how things work, so it doesn't bother me. I've heard some choice words from other crewmembers, though. It's actually Brown that's outta place at BFI, not the little guys....

I'll never forget being on final that day and wondering why there were so many large airplanes on the ground with a ridiculous purple paint scheme. Apparently Memphis isn't just a podunk redneck white trash southern town. It's a podunk redneck white trash southern town with a Fedex hub! :)

Cool!

I remember Rausda flew into ATL, he was pretty excited as well!

What type of speeds did they issue or did they just point you at the numbers on base and say "have at it!" ? :)

They never said anything about speed, we came in IFR, and they just put us on the localizer about 25 miles out, we shot the ILS at about 170 ish (yes full throttle) and dumped everything about a mile from the numbers.
