He doesn't do that... "oh well you grew up in North Dakota, you should be able to deal with this"......rrrrrrrrrrrrright.

I just love starting my car when it's negative 40 knowing full well that there is no oil lubricating anything for like 2 minutes.

Yeah.....especially in a high compression engine. I can just hear the pistons scraping the cylinder walls *cchhhhhhzzzzzzrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr* or however it phonetically sounds :D

I'd have been like hey what up, look it's a post about you! He is actually a nice guy but I bet he sits in his warm home that gets the first plowing.

5w-30 or 0w-30 for the WIN:nana2:

Yeah, he seems like it. I'm an usher/ticket taker at the ralph, and twice now he has come in through a busy line and asked "do I need to show my ticket?" and both times before even really looking up and seeing who it is I said "yes sir, everyone needs to show their ticket". He probably thinks I'm a dick, but both times he has just said "ok" and pulled the ticket out to be scanned.

Yeah I have heard he actually lives on the southeast end of town. Instead of the presidents shack (not sure if its true). I bet that the southeast end is probably the first side of town to get plowed.

Plus he probably drives a 4wd and doesn't care about snow. My high school superintendent drove an H1 and we never got snow days.

I use 5W-30 too. I can still "hear" the metal to metal grinding...at least imagine it happening.

Hellz yeah! I'm not sure how our engines would compare if we took them apart and compared clearance and tolerances. I would venture to guess mines a little more lax. Mine still complains during start up. Sure it cranks slower, but it sure as heck sounds different as well. It's like "shishishishishi, shiiiiiitttttt!" :D

Honda engines are known for being "too precise" therefore unrebuildable, maybe that's a bad thing for cold weather... but then again, maybe it's better since it has little room to move out of line. I have been looking for a winter car... so far, nothing available that would be reliable. I found a 1993 Ford Taurus with 66,000 miles on it but the guy wanted $1000 (!!!!!!) for it. I said thanks but no thanks. Oh yeah, it's on transmission #3... a sign to stay away. Hopefully I can find a beat-up 5-speed Subaru Justy...drift-mobile.

If you're buying something with an auto, domestics are the only way to go if you want reliability. I dont know what it is with foreign car makers. They'll make kick ass engines and the suddenly go mentally retarded and make the worst abomination in the world called a "transmission" or something. :D

Sure there's those oddball cars that actually last. Consistantly, domestic autos are superior in every way. However, the rest of the car will surely make you want to throw up. haha Unless you're getting a post 98 GM or something. Which if you did, I think the world would explode. Unless you bought a GTO or zo6 corvette. How 'bout it?

I'd definitly run away from that taurus. You should probably buy a buick century or park ave. Hey, they've got 3800s in them at least. Or how about the next best thing, a 91 olds cutlass with the 3300(a smaller stroke and odd fire version of the 3800). :nana2:

Domestic slush boxes are superior? Hmmmmmmm........ :insane: That's it, get me a Pontiac Grand Am! I'm so sold. (no sarcasm tag, I mean TEYG, needed)

I would say japanese autos are about as good, but they cost a little more to fix. Not as bad as european autos though. Mother of god. Those things aren't very good AND cost you a crap load to fix them.

I like this quote: "European car makers will use 6 bolts when 2 will work just fine". They definitly live up to this when they build an automatic. Perfect example: GM, Ford, Toyota, and most other manufacturers will use check balls in the fluild channels to keep the fluid from flowing the wrong way. VW on the other hand found the need to take something simple and make it huge pain in the butt for mechanics and make this spring loaded flapper thing that fits into place instead of having a simple ball bearing looking deal. It's stupid crap like that that makes fixing most european automatics a financial nightmare for the owner. It's not uncommon to see mercedes trannys cost over 8,000 to get fixed.
