Anyone care to share their experience...

I was at Skymates from March to the end of July. I went in with my Private single engine, and started with the multi-private, instrument(in the Seminole), multi-time building, CSEL and CMEL.

I spent a total of about 3 weeks away from Arlington, so I probably could have finished faster. But, it was nice to be able to take breaks between ratings without having someone get bent out of shape about it. I decided to come and do my CFI-Initial closer to home in San Antonio.

In all, I had a good experience at Skymates. It was definitely alot more laid back than the other places I've flown. The instructors I flew with were good. Definitely patient.

Anyway, that was my Skymates experience. WORD FOR SURE.

who are you??

Chris of the Levelland tribe -- until I was relocated to Armstrong for a couple weeks in July. Brett was my instructor.

Nah, Austin and I both got voted off that particular island. I managed to live on Woodhollow, Levelland and Armstrong between March and July. I got the full tour.

Yeah, I lived in Woodhollow while training last summer, Armstrong while instructing for a while, and Levelland my last month or so. I think I liked Levelland the best since Woodhollow had no internet (except the neighbors' wireless) or cable when I lived there. Did Tom shut down Levelland?

Levelland was my favorite.... it's smaller and quieter.

Congrats to Melissa. I'll have to give her a call.

Bubba when are you looking at starting your training?
Meyers....I'm looking to start as soon as possible. I'm thinking about pushing through the instrument rating, see how that goes, then go all out through MEI. After the instrument I'll need a little $$ help with Sallie Mae/not to get there, but I'm sure I can swing it. I've got the luxury of working my week from sat-monday, so I'm thinking I can get everything done by March, if I start by the end of Oct.

Not the expert but that sounds relatively managable I would say. I'm sure Steve and Jtrain and some will chime in and let you konw their thoughts (all relative of course).

You live in the metroplex bro? Come on down if you do. Me and kellwolf are gone, but go hit up Austin if he's around and he'll let you know what's up.

I swear i'm like a fortune teller or something! No way Jtrain responded to that message! Bubba go check things out if you havent...... They have a great recorded and obviously you know this and that's why you are looking there!

For sure doable by March. I started with the CMEL and CSEL in May and I was done and gone by the first week of July. Granted, I was back a month later to instruct. :)

There aren't really any bad instructors at Skymates, but Jtrain and I both lived with Austin last summer, and I was his instructor for a couple of ratings. For sure give him a call. If you need Sallie Mae stuff, talk to Ryan or Luca about that. They can get you everything you need.

Now that steve, jh, and brett are gone your probability of getting stuck with a bad instructor is now zero percent, down from 40%

har har har i kid, dudes.

and kell, I knew several days ago too, I don't know what I was thinking. My first instinct should have been to post on JC. So sorry suh, please don't hurt me mastuh!

All I can say now is check with them before you go. By looking at the website recently prices got hiked and may no longer be the best option out there for you. Anywas just look around and you might be able to find just as quality of a product out there. Perhaps look into a Whiteair or Ariben as well. Both off quality multi time and prices are lower as of right now.
