Anyone care to share their experience...

Thanks, jtrain609.

Delphinusdanse's response is exactly what I was looking for when I started this thread. I need a little insight with regard to my original post. The encouragement and info on Skymates is what I'm looking for.

I'm pretty sure that all flight training will be pricey. I just want the best training I can get. When all is said and done, I want to be a competent commercial pilot. I don't want the bare mins the FAA requires. When I complete my final 'rating', I want to be a safe and confident pilot who is ready to begin a lifelong career in aviation which requires the dedication to continual training and knowledge. This is the type of environment where I want to train. I understand the economics of aviation being expensive (by the way, gas prices are going down, not up), and I am not factoring that into my decision. Gas prices affect every flight school.

Please keep any personal experiences with Skymates coming. The stories really do help.

Thanks

I came to skymates with a private and finished through instructor ratings in 8 months. it should have been 6 months but I ran into unforseen and unlucky situations that delayed me. I'm terribly bitter about it too! (kidding) i came out under budget and after waiting a little while for a spot I'm now an instructor here.

I liked flying when and where I wanted, being able to schedule myself, flying with several people during the timebuilding phase for my commercial license, and going to hard eight almost once a week for a while. I didn't venture out too far, but I visited most of the closer states to TX.

I'm starting to get the hang of instructing ( 1 week so far woohoo). I've been pulling really long days to pick up a student base and starting to pay off. The only thing I can complain about is having to look at ryanmickG every day. That and airplanes going down for inspections when I want to fly them or the credit card machine being dumb.

My point is, no regrets
