So I dropped off Kristie at the airport this morning to go do a DTW Meet & Greet, grabbed a cup of coffee and spent a few hours this morning browsing other popular aviation websites.

Dang! There's a lot of aggressive, angry people out there in aero-cyberspace!

All I've got to say is "Thanks!" to everyone that helped us build this community! Certainly we're not perfect, but a whole hell of a lot more palatable than many other aviation forums by far.

So, thanks for helping us "keep it real" here at JC and for keeping your feet off the furniture in my virtual living room.
 
I can't speak for others, but I can't thank YOU enough Doug, for putting together a constructive forum for a prospective non-pilot to gather information and learn, learn, learn.
 
Finally read some of the flightinfo and anet drivel? Entertaining sometimes, downright viscious & nasty at other times!

Quite honestly, people will get away with as much as they are allowed to get away with (hmm, sounds a lot like my 3 year old). If you (as moderator) allowed people to act like that on JC, I guarantee you they would.

However, you have built here a place where standards are higher, and people rise to that. And we appreciate that :)

I think most of the users on here think the "Thanks" should be directed to YOU! I'm in that boat... This site has helped me from 0 time on...

Doug- I showed up for my 5:15am trip a couple of days ago. The First Officer comes to me and says,"hi, I'm your FO, XXXX, I'm just off IOE". I say hello, if you have any questions yada yada yada.......then he says,"your xxxx from Jetcareers right? Doug Taylors website?

I can't tell you how that small thing in common we had helped make the day go by much smoother. I felt as though I was flying with someone who had seen and read all the things I read from JC and wasn't buying into the whole "Buy your flight time at this school and you'll be a FO at a regional in ten days". We spoke of the website a bit, as well as other interesting things that I really enjoying and I would not have discussed had he not mentioned JC.

My exacts thoughts as I headed out to the airplane in 100 degree temp at 5:30am was, "wow, Doug has truly built an icon for this community. I don't know if he knows it or not, intended to or not, but he has. And it will continue to grow bigger and bigger. And perhaps maybe, just maybe we can start to turn the tide of kool-aid drinkers out there that beleive the media when they say that this industry has change since 9/11. It can't support those pilot wages and pensions. All these years. It's really beginning to pay off big in dividends."

In other words, thank you Doug. I am where I am today because of your website. Seriously people. Had I not met SkyWChris here, I would not be here. I might of eventually been hired, but not at the place and time that I did.

Doug- your gonna have a heck of a time paying for drinks at NJC, cuz first and second, and third rounds on me. And I"m sure they're lined up to get your fifth and hundredth rounds, if you can make it that long. (not like my cousin whos currently passed out in my bed bcuz mr 22 year old couldnt handle 6 shots of patron on his birthday last night HAAAAAA) Man, my rides all jacked up. He threw up in it. I'm gonna wake him up and make him clean it. Oooops sorry, THanks Doug!
 
Well thank you for the site! Were like a family here at JC. You and Kristie have helped me through many things in my life on an off the board.

I wouldn't be able to get a call from the "websitemaster" at FI to say hey wanna come hangout this weekend. That personal touch is what I appreciate most about the site...

I wanted to throw in my heartfelt thanks as well. I found this website the first day I decided to change careers to be a pilot. If it weren't for the wisdom in this community, I certainly would have had to learn some of my lessons the hard (er) way. I was the first officer on that flight w/ Omar the other day, and there is no way that could have happened without Jetcareers. I also found a point of reference with my first line captain because of this site. I must say that Omar exemplifies the type of mentor you speak about here. He was calm, kind, knowledgable, and his handling of a new rookie should be duplicated. I think that the way people treat each other on this website is a direct reflection on the leadership of the founder and the long time members, and it is one example of how to make the aviation (and the rest of the) world a better place.

The page header is promting me to make a first post so here it goes.
Thank you is definitely in order to Doug, Kristie and all the others who contribute to this site. I am on the verge of adding pilot to my list of occupations and have found this site in particular to be very informative. As a noobie to all things commercial aviation I found a lot of other sites to be exactly as Doug put it, angry and aggresive. I am not to scarred of paying dues in this industry but the thought of working with a bunch of *!@#$%'s was a little much. Fortunetaly I stumbled along JC and feel much better about the aviation community after reading through a fair amount of posts.
I am in the process of selecting a training program and hope to get going in late Oct. and look forward to contributing to JC. Thank you Doug Taylor for creating this site.

Don't worry, Doug's a pilot, he won't mind having somebody else paying for his drinks!:nana2:
 
this site has been wonderful for me and has helped me make some big decisions in my life. thank you for putting in the countless hours to make everyone get a well rounded view of what life is like as a pilot no matter what level. not only that the school and fbo choices and the people who are regulars really make this a great site. thanks once again.
 
I hereby reject your thanks and redirect it back to you. You, Kristie, and the other people involved in running the site are the ones that I think are responsible for this place being the place that it is. Good people attract other good people. The few times we do get a few bad apples, everybody does a good job at either keeping them in line, or (for lack of a better term) scaring them away. But you do that without making this place too strict to want to come to every day. Muchos gracias

That's one of the things I like about this site. You've got a lot of peer pressure to keep it clean and keep it decent. Sure, we don't all agree on a lot of things but we all get along. Pengy and I shoot barbs at each other and we definitely push each other's buttons when it comes to politics, for example, but we still can chill and have drinks together after all that.

That's what's cool about JC and why I keep on coming back.
