Pilot Sidejobs or Business

I was just wondering if any of the professional pilots here have a side business or job? Easy/hard to maintain while flying?

an AA guy I know does stuff in real estate and another one practices law.

someone else referenced him in a thread a while back.

He actively practices law and flies on his 'days off.' not a bad deal.

Me? I'd smuggle drugs.....

I'd rather have someone who doesn't need to practice anymore!

Kidding.

Seriously though, "part-time lawyer" is dangerous. The field of law is so complex that one should devote their life to it to be taken seriously.

I would not employ a part-time lawyer - just too much at stake with the law.

Are you an attorney? My father would consider his practice part time now as he nears retirement. The man has only lost his first case when he started over 30yrs ago. If you know the law and keep up with it, it doesn't matter how often you practice; even if you're a trial attorney or not. Some of the most successful lawyers practice part time (only the big cases), and give the rest to those who work under them.

I have flown with several airline pilots with law degrees and they say they can't make any money at it part time.

I've seen all of these before...Adjunct college faculty, substitute teacher, painter, contractor, various consulting disciplines, health club owner, real estate agent/broker/flipper, landlord, insurance agent, lots of small business owners, military reserves/guard, multi level marketing, part time pharmacist, land developer...

I met an ASA pilot who had gone into flying as a career changer - had been a financial analyst at a large company - can't remember the name, but it was one of the places you see advertised during golf tournaments.

He was setting up a part-time financial planning gig on the side while he flew. Said it was easy to do stuff remotely for clients. <shrug>

Frog's father is a lawyer. He knows a little bit about it.(Even though you wouldn't know it since he seems border line retarded.)lol

once you get known in law you can to whatever the **** you want. My cousin works for a firm that represents casinos. She works from home in PDX and gets flown to LAS a couple times a year if they need her. Makes 200,000+

as for the original poster ive seen a lot of network level marketing (amway) recently, not my cup of tea. I think guard is one of the better true part time gigs out there
