Uniform Shirts

I made a facebook post a few years ago about uniforms shirts. Thought I would buy some at the time but I was able to squeeze a few years out of my A Cut Above shirts from 9E. Now I’m into the uniform shirts from Brown and they all look like muumuu’s and struggle to stay tucked. Just sloppy IMO.

Is A Cut Above still a good brand? There’s another brand that pilots seem to be happy with and they were heavy with social media advertising a few years ago but the name escapes me.

I’ll also probably be giving away a bunch of M&H shirts (17 1/2) if anyone wants them. Preferably to a regional new hire that doesn’t have the extra cash for uniform shirts but they’re a free for all once I get some shirts I prefer in.

My last order from A Cut Above was a few years back and it was horrible. Two shirts had misaligned buttons and the stitching starting coming apart within a couple of months.

Jetseam is a great choice. I also like the Flight shirts but they are made of that athletic shirt material. I have both and like them.

JetSeam is very good. I’ve noticed the color doesn’t hold well enough over time but if you wear white shirts that’s not an issue.

The Flight shirts are…okay. They don’t breathe well, and the collars are not comfortable to me. But they are wrinkle resistant for sure.

I wear Flight in the summer and JetSeam in the winter. I also have a bunch of brand-new M&H and Crew Outfitters shirts to give away.

A Cut Above has gone downhill big time over the last 10+ years. The cost continues to go up and the quality continies to go down. I'd probably never order from them ever again.

I switched to Flight a few years ago and really like them. They're athleisure material and a better fit. Really comfortable and look great. Have heard good things about Jetseam but I only use them for pants.

Edit to add: Flight throws sales pretty frequently. They just had 25 or 30% off everything for fathers day. That might still be going on.

BomCrewMall.com. His name is Aniel. Very personalized. Ordered from him about 6 years ago and never looking back. Little on the pricey side but it’s all personalized for your fit.

I've been using Flight for the past couple of years after trying pretty much every brand. They're the ones that fit my body shape the best. The material is a bit strange and takes a few trips to get used to, but I've grown to love how easy they are to take care of. You wash it like any old t-shirt: into the washer, dryer, and if there's still some wrinkles they come out in 30 seconds with a steamer.

Generic tapered Van Heusens here. Cheap as possible because all shirts go in the trash after incremental periods of time.

Got a bag with a bar code from the local cleaners. Dirty shirts go in the bag, bag goes to the cleaners, they press and fold, pick up, rinse, repeat.

They wear for crap, but so does every other brand. I've never seen a shirt that is worth the extra money they charge.

Cheap? Maybe, but I'll spend money where it makes a difference. It doesn't here.

Get off my lawn.

Get what the company requires then go to a good tailor and have it properly fitted and altered
This.

My most recent aftermarket shirts after CutAbove were JetSeam. Overall fine but not perfect and after getting the shirt specs down each shirt was pushing 60.00+

After my company switched vendors, the new shirts are better than the M&H by a long shot. So I just go to my local tailor and have them fitted to look better. Way cheaper this way.

I also use shirt stays to keep my shirt tucked in. Bring on the hate!

Thanks for the recommendations! Flight was the name that was escaping me. I’ll probably order a shirt from there and see how I like it. I wear a lot of Dri-Fit shirts anyway so it shouldn’t be a huge thing to get used to.

I’ve thought about getting the shirts tailored. I still may because it’s reimbursable. I’m not a fan of the feel of M&H shirts, even when we had them at Endeavor years ago. Last tailor was… let’s just say I’ll never go back. If anyone has a good plug on tailors in the Phoenix area feel free to drop them.

Another thought if you’re looking for a little getaway…

A hand full of my pals recently have been doing a lot of both HKG and PVG overnights. They all found their favorite shirts and took it to local tailors out there to make them several shirts “superior” to the local brands for significantly cheaper. Sure it’s a trek but at least the food aspect of it will be fantastic 😂.

Watching. I need some new shirts because GLP.

Am I the only one who hasn’t really had issues with A Cut Above? Maybe some varying quality at times but overall I’ve had their shirts last years. I’m still baffled I see good reviews for Flight shirts. I bought into the hype and tried one and the material felt like one of those flimsy paper napkins you get in a takeout cutlery packet. So thin you could see through it, I ended up going through the hassle of sending it back instead of just eating the cost.

Someone recommend Aniel a awhile back and I've been meaning to try his. Seems pretty legit.

I've tried all the brands with the latest being Flight. Not impressed, for 'wrinkle free' or whatever they are worse than the others.

I bought 4 A Cut Above's a few years back, honestly they've been fine for me. I launder them at home, iron them myself, touch up iron every night on a trip. At this point I'll replace them next year maybe, likely with the same brand.
