The sheer “caucasity” of attempting to school a person on emancipation, whose great grandfather was literally born property, is a dumb hill to metaphorically die on. My family has been here since before George Washington was even a sparkle in his parents eyes on a mead-filled evening, through the revolution, served at the parties, barely getting the right to vote in the late 1800s, stripped away with the “Three-Fifths Clause”, fought in two world wars, Korea and Vietnam to protect rights they did not possess themselves in rural Alabama, I don’t know, I reserve the right to choose when, where and how I celebrate and what for.

I don't take lessons on oppression from someone pulling six figures in Scottsdale AZ. I will however take them from people who actually lived it.

Seems like a pretty good lesson to me. I suppose if you have a problem with where he’s coming from when he wrote that you can take that up with him.
There is a difference between inherited legacy and borrowed pain. One is honorable. The other is a costume.
The men in your family who actually sacrificed they believed this country was worth something. Possibly worth dying for. That is the deepest kind of American patriotism there is. You should try it sometime instead of weaponizing their graves.
July 4th 1776 is why June 19th 1865 exists. Douglass knew it. Your ancestors apparently thought so too. The only person in this conversation who seems confused about that is you. Celebrate however you wish. I couldn’t care less. I’m just telling you it’s ok to love your country. Ray Charles thinks so too.

Miserable travel so far. LA to Toronto delayed, missed our AC flight to Copenhagen. Rebooked on LOT Toronto to Warsaw to Copenhagen. Added 8.5 hrs to travel. Total time 22-23 hrs.
Now supposed to go Copenhagen to Stockholm. Trains, apparently reliable. Some power line fault, all trains from Copenhagen to Sweden stopped. Problem with that is it’s evening and our connection in Lund to the high speed train will miss. Last one for the night will be gone by time we get there - if they even fix the problem soon.
Now sitting in an Uber to CPH airport and gonna try to ZED travel on SAS to fly to Arlanda.
Let’s see how that goes.
This is by far the most messed up confirmed / positive space experience I’ve had. Yeah I get it, I’m in the industry, should know it happens, gotta roll with it, adapt, etc.
But still, ugh.

Would anyone like some real world, modern day examples? I get news articles daily with wonderful examples. I’ve also got plenty of friends that can cite you concrete examples they’re currently living through.
I’m kinda sad I’ll be on a trip for Juneteenth. I know my neighbors get uppity walking by my house with the holiday lights in their current rainbow configuration for pride. Pity I can’t sit in the front room and watch their faces as they walk by when I change the colors on the 19th. That’s assuming they even know which, given the state of Arizona schools, they probably don’t.

Left the Copenhagen train station, took an Uber to CPH. Absolute mad house, as everyone was doing the same. Grid lock traffic. Traffic literally at a standstill. Driver told us no way are we getting in T3. That I’ll drop you at T2, and you can make the 7-10 minute walk. That’s what we did.
SAS took care of us. Only 10 open seats, but they got us a whole DEF for the wife/girls and BC for myself/son.

I used to camp at the Blythe Marina occasionally. It was nice as far as campgrounds go, the sites on the river were grass and provided fresh water, 110V AC power, showers and a little general store. I have stories about venturing out for dinner in Blythe but those are probably best told over a fire pit. The cool thing about the specific site where we'd stay was we could just beach the jet skis or sea doos right on the shore and leave them there overnight in a little cove. I'm sure it's different now, I looked over there the last couple of times I drove across the river on the 10 and I couldn't recognize any of it. It was a different time, I'm just glad I was able to enjoy it.
Wife remember her passport this time??? I kid man. I commend you for traveling with 3 kids. I only have 2 and the stress of traveling with them and the wife would give me a stroke. Be safe.
