FedEx closing CGN, LAX, and ANC MD11. New system bid for all of the changes.

Yeah, guys with 9 years are leaving to start over somewhere else. With 7 years here, I'm wondering if I screwed up by staying. A guy from my new hire class just started over at United and already seems happier.

That feeling doesn’t go away for a while.

I’ve gone from “WOO!” to “Sheesh, man, maybe I should go over to X” to “WOO!” To “man, I don’t know about this joint” back to “WOO!” I don’t know HOW many times during my career at SouthernJets.

Yea man, it's a wild ride. Never thought someone would celebrate someone else's downturn but here we are.

During the 51% concessions days?

YAAAAYUS! :)

I remember being out with the Kalitta chief pilot during SouthernJets bankruptcy years, having some cocktails, and he almost had me convinced to jump ship.
Theres only room for one Doug

Oooooo yeah. I remember those days well. Now most of my coworkers are stabbing each other in the face if they can't credit 160 hrs because they'll starve otherwise.

Flew with one of those types in October. Dude had just been divorced yet was bragging about land he acquired near MCO to build a mini airport for RC aircraft.

“Man I REALLY need a green slip, I’m a little behind this month.”

He actually missed out on a 4 day GS later that rotation and was visibly shaken by it.

Terrible, lol. Would’ve been so much better off leaving this dumpster fire.

Having flown for one of FedEx’s feeders for almost 9 years, I seriously wonder how they stay staffed. I was in the purple runway program, as were many others. Many guys only stayed at MAC so they could get on with purple.

It’s crack cocaine

The pilot group was flourishing under a good contract. The company learned that pilots will metaphorically slay one another over a green slip and sometimes set aside the contract and learned it could be profitable.

Never mind if it was illegal, that GS/IA was MIIIIIIIINE!!!

“He made a special deal with crew scheduling so I’m going to call his house 100x and make my own special deal with crew scheduling! I’m gonna key his car!”

I got a weird text from a guy who got mad that I called in sick 24 hours out instead of waiting until the last minute because it could have been a GS.

“Do not contact me again”

It’s legitimately wild.

There was a thread over on APC (I know, I know) where a guy was shaming reserve pilots assigned a rotation off short call who don’t contact CS to make sure any 23m7 farmers who may have been skipped get paid.

Things I ain’t doing for $1,000, Alex.

Had an FO like that recently. Spent every waking second stalking iCrew and MiCrew when we weren't in the plane, and even then he'd be on it instantly after the shut down checklist. He kept bragging that he probably made as much as I do (didn't ask) but got a little flabbergasted when I asked how many days at home a month he has and said 7 or 8, sometimes less. Like dude, you may make the same I do but I get 15-16 days off a month, and more when I bid minimum! The money ain't worth it when you have your third heart attack on a min rest overnight in Fargo.

But I also live in fear of losing my medical and not qualifying for disability and having to live off my spouse's income so our household budget is built off what she would make if she worked full time.

While probably also grousing that we never have enough reserve coverage for them to drop trips. Stop whoring yourself out as an extra reserve chasing greenies and maybe the company will staff more reserves. I'm personally doing my part. I don't even have ARCOS installed on my phone or iPad anymore (it may be buried somewhere on my iPad in among the useless apps I didn't wanna delete but never use folder.)
