2 killed when police helicopter crashes in Flagstaff during pursuit
I'm not sure if he was directly responsible for the helicopter crash, but the suspect in question was charged with two counts of first degree murder for the death of the troopers.
If he shot the helicopter down, that would be appropriate. If the crash was an accident of some kind, then that kind of doesn’t jive.
Same thing when the TV3 and TV15 helos had the midair collision in 2007 over 3rd Ave/Indian School while filming the vehicle chase on the ground. The suspect was initially charged with the deaths of the four TV news crew in the helos, but he can’t be held responsible for two helicopters impacting one another while they were positioning themselves around the sky with low SA and target fixation on the ground incident that was going on. So those charges were dropped.
Kind of different, news helicopters are only tangentially involved because they're not actually participating, they're just observing. Not really any different than when they charge the suspect in a high speed chase if a cop crashes and dies
Police helicopter here, not news.Kind of different, news helicopters are only tangentially involved because they're not actually participating, they're just observing.
I assumed he was replying to the @MikeD post that he quoted regarding the news choppers that ran into each other following a chase. Am I wrong? I understand in this particular accident it was a LEO helicopter and we don't know if the bad guy actually shot it down. You'd be surprised how durable helicopters are regarding gunfire, there's always the golden BB but back during the riots in the '90s when I was farting around with news helicopters some came back with bullet holes in them and although they required repair they didn't simply fall out of the air once they got hit. I'm still not convinced helicopters are more dangerous than airplanes, they just get used in more compromising situations.Police helicopter here, not news.
Mike’s first paragraph was about the police helicopter, the theme of the thread. November Echo’s post follows that thought directly and, conversely, doesn’t make much sense if applied to the news helicopter side-note paragraph.I assumed he was replying to the @MikeD post that he quoted regarding the news choppers that ran into each other following a chase. I disagree but I don't care. You want to argue about semantics. Can we agree that if a suspect shoots at a LEO helicopter and it ends up crashing that person should be indicted for, at the very least, attempted murder? And if two news helicopters end up getting in a blade fight it's not the fault of the suspect in the high speed chase? This is why courts are important, they parse out the details. You just want to argue with me for some reason, I don't know why and I don't care. I hope you have a great evening.Mike’s first paragraph was about the police helicopter, the theme of the thread. Or your writing is lacking. It's not my fault that your writing leaves folks guessing. If you want your words to land be specific. Did my explanation clear anything up and do you have anything to say? Which accident were you referring to?No he was just trying to explain it to you because your reading comprehension sucks
