Flight Bags

It's really, really nice.
What the heck? I'm not transporting the nuclear codes! Mine looks just like that but is made of leather or some leather-like substance. Don't need military grade.

It's the same dimensions but, I believe, considerably lighter. Bonus, it's got wheels so you can flip it sideways and roll it if you want. Handles on top and end.

Yeah I’m thinking that the bright line I’m using isn’t going to fit in the spot on the 777 - it’s a pain to get in the cramped 777 cockpit and I’m going to have to get an old flight case like when we carried paper Jepp binders and paper flight manuals.

I was surprised to discover that the 777 cockpit for 4 is way more cramped than a 320 cockpit

It’s a pain in the butt to put my brightline that I’ve been using for over a decade in the spot where the flight bag goes. I’ll need to lose some pouches to make my brightline slimmer to fit in the flight bag spot.

Other than the colored zippers they scream “this is also my range bag and I have a Black Rifle Coffee sticker on my iPad case and an inop sticker on the camera”.

I briefly considered one but seeing as I was annoyed with too many small pockets as it was I decided it wasn’t a good option
Made sure all my range bags were the most douchey, non FOM compliant color to put one more step in avoiding that stupid mistake from ever happening.

Audiologists are a thing. They can make molds. I had some made for some speciality earbuds long ago, in fact.
My custom molds for my CA were spendy, but man were they worth it. She also did ear plugs for the good weather Captain walkarounds I sometimes do….

Mine made it 21 years. Not quite vintage robobag, but still a rev 2 “Purty Neat”.

Frame was way bent, black nylon weave that turned that funky “not-black” color when subjected to years of UV and chemical attack, zipper that wasn’t zippy, poorly machined “field mods” that made it look like a garage fan production of “I, Borg”, and overall looked like a sack of potatoes.

Yeah, my frame is badly bent in all axes, and has been unbent/rebent enough times where it's gotten soft. I've been upgauging all the fasteners to the point that the holes are thin and twisted around them. I actually tried to switch to pop rivets at one point, but I didn't have any rivets with a high enough gauge, and the metal was too weak to hold them. I would have had to drill them out and use massive rivets in their place, and there's not enough room to run a bucking bar or fit my squeezer.

The whole bag is crooked now, and the metal kickplate is curled, twisted, and sharpened by dragging on concrete to the point it cut a slice in the leg of my pants a few weeks ago.

There's still a fragment of a "JETCAREERS" sticker on the bottom, but all that's left is just the top part of a "J."

I've installed doublers, washers, extra bolts, restitched the interior, replaced the wheels multiple times ... but now the metal and fabric are all getting weak and tearing, and stuff is starting to fall out.

I figured it was time.

Funny thing, when you think about it—pretty much everything your bag goes through is something your body also goes through. Wear and tear ain't just on the luggage . . .

for the life of my ill never understand why people buy the metal framed bag when the plastic one doesn’t turn into an hourglass figure after one RJ gate check
