AirlineApps: “Why Haven’t I Heard Anything”

I don’t think that I agree with many of these takes. I’ve seen plenty of people including men, women, people with diverse backgrounds, military, no degree get hired at legacies. People who network well and interview well get hired without knowing they would be competitive when they started. Often you seem to be angry and accusatory about why your ship hasn’t come in yet but those things might connected…
The world is aligned against them, if they can't be a victim they have no identity.

Are you talking about Aviate or Aviate Academy? Academy, idk, but there have been Aviate’s that made it over to United.

The academy, I was wondering. Don’t know what their projected timeline is from start to making it to a mainline.

Yeah, 121 you either make it or you don't - I don't disagree with that.

The stats are not great either. I was doing the numbers almost 10 or 15 years ago, if you look at all the certificated ATP pilots as a number, and the number of jobs on apc, you end up seeing something something like only 20% (ish) of guys make it to the majors? I haven't run the numbers in a bit, I actually assume that has gotten a bit better because of consolidation, and the previous pilot shortage etc. but yeah, if you're in a room of 5 guys, are you more likely to get hired than 4 of them is the question you should be asking.

The airmen stats show ATP certificates of all time, doesn’t account for living, deceased, retired, or holding the certificate and not flying (collegiate teacher) or loss of medical.

Not sure to be honest. If I hear something I’ll let you know. I do know that side has been a bit of a train wreck getting people done in a reasonable timeline.

I don’t know any of the inside baseball of it, other than they do have a nice campus facility from what I saw of it, and fly at all hours of the clock. From the outside, it seems to be moving along. But that’s all my exposure is to it.

A better way to track it is to watch the number of 1st class medicals.

That said, I’ll just drop this deuce and see myself out:

“All of this has all happened before. All of this will happen again”

If I recall "little Jhugz" correctly, you were really strong-willed and sort of mouthy beyond your years...but you also mixed it up and weren't a whiney bitch if you got smacked around some, and you took lessons where you found them. Not as a counterpoint, but more complimentary point to yours - the mentee is not always going to be agreeable or in lockstep to the mentor. Therefore the mentor needs to judge carefully before just throwing in the towel and you end up with some loser like @DPApilot that ends up listening to people like @Boris Badenov and such.
@Boris Badenov listened to ME!

Sir, the preferred ending is:

You guys have an entirely different vision of me than who I am, and it leads you to thinking I'm saying things other than what I'm saying.

I have been myself at all the interviews I've had, and I'm not what they want in a pilot. I'm not good at the social thing. I'm not a talker, which is what's being assessed, and I'm not a storyteller. Hell, I don't even remember most of my stories. I've been doing this long enough, too many 14+ hour days in a row, and it all blends together. I'm not going to make things up or add details. (For all they complain about canned answers, those people seem to get hired.)

And bluntly? I don't want to "compete" for a slot, especially when I'm competing socially. Put us all in Elite: Dangerous vr fighter sim and I'm in. Have us do a popularity contest and I'm not even going to try. I want to "earn" a slot.

I don't network well. I'm not a schmoozer. I interview very well in technical domains, but not for this TMAAT format. So as you said, those are things that are not in my wheelhouse, and no matter what my qualifications, I'm not going to be "competitive" in a social setting. Many of you have met me at JC or in Real Life, and you know what I mean.

You folks think I'm angry or bitter during interviews, but I'm not. I'm bitter and angry about rejection.

They have a breakdown with active, you can go in and muck around in there? I think I actually used the count of first class medicals at the time? I don't remember, but about 1/5

That’s fair, and I know it’s rough. Many of us are so much better than we’re able to show and it’s tough that the game is what the game is. Many great people don’t get hired when if the interviewers could only see what we had to offer they’d have a different opinion. I Appreciate the drive, the hustle and the struggle. Cheers 🥂

It has been a while since I poked around in there, good to know they started doing that. It is a better representation matching the ATP to 1st class medicals.
