EWR radios and radar fail again

We have Flight Data guys in the back at my Center who open/close/combine sectors for us, and help process Flight Plan info, but TBH nobody really knows the full extent of their job. Ive worked here for over a Decade now and think ive been in there once during my initial training.

When I've been flying over Tampa lately night, it has been the same voice on clearance, ground, tower, final and approach. "You want a clearance on the ground? That's funny. Try center in the air...,"

I was under the impression that the FD center ppl were different than the the ATAs. The FD ppl basically disseminated PIREPS and brought us the sigmets/airmets that we already got off the printer and the sups threw them in the trash as soon as they left the area. ATAs, some of whom eventually became controllers, posted strips and other such tasks in the oceanic sector before ATOP was adopted. There were none of those left when I was at ZNY.

It hasn’t been unusual since thr last outage and so many people went out in trauma leave. Hell yesterday morning I was by myself from 0530-0800

Weird, I don’t see you in the credits as a technical advisor. Steve Hinton is listed as a pilot, maybe you could reach out to him as ask why it was done that way.

If I was as overworked as you are I'd jump at the chance for any reason to take a few paid days off. You apparently didn't, maybe you weren't there when the • hit the fan, but because you're actually doing the job do you think the trauma callouts are legitimate? I understand if you have a script to read from if asked this question, but if you can be honest do you think those that called out were traumatized or simply exhausted? I hope you you understand I'm not trying to dig for an article, this site and maybe one other are the only places I talk about aviation unless I'm asked a direct question.
