I think it’s a combination of factors. You’ve got the folks, mostly north, who simply loathe the hat and are willing to flirt with formal disciplinary actions to not wear it. There are the people who got out of the habit during the “hats off” campaign, with mnay feeling the contract has still not been implemented, so no hat. There are newer hires who think it looks goofy, and there are those who are waiting on the “commuter friendly “ hat promised in the fiasco that has been our uniform refresh. In the end if a large enough percentage of the pilot group can’t find their hat, how much is the company willing to spend in fighting it?
I wear mine, I hate it, but as a new hire during the hats off we were told to wear it, so I did. Now I’m used to it, and I’m too chicken to ditch it.
