AA Operations Specialist

If you're looking to go to dispatch from this job stay clear it's becoming a dead end. After the previous manager left the relationship between this department and dispatch is dead. Last hiring 8 applied and all 8 were denied with half having former shop experience.
Love how AA hires people off the streets or from other airlines before it hires people that already work at AA! Horrible company

I have seen the same with others. They don't want to take the staff from their lower cost to operate flights or other departments and take from the workforce of the competition. That being said, AA and the others do still take some internals as well.

FPS is a job that should be its own career and compensated higher than it currently is. Its closely tied to dispatch so its always been a struggle for them to keep talent. I think at one point they tried to avoid hiring candidates with dispatch licenses and experience.

FPS now has a contractually guaranteed interview. 3 FPS were hired in the most recent dispatch class out of 13 new hires. Hopefully that trend continues for those that want to make the move.

There were more FPS hired than externals with dispatch experience. If you include dispatchers from wholly owned carriers, 11 of the 13 dispatch new hires were internal hires.

I heard interviews are next week Thursday and Friday. Has anyone been contacted for an interview yet or Thanks no thanks email?

Anyone know anything about this position Specialist, Flight Operations Support (FOS) Control? Pay scale, etc…

I dont know much about the current pay but the FOS control desk is next to European dispatch but not very visible so you will need to be proactive in networking.

Before OMS and FKY, dispatchers would have frequent contact with FOS control to help fix issues with DECS entries. Those two programs help to reduce dispatcher data entry errors so theres not as much contact as there used to be.

Once the takeoff performance and crew scheduling systems move out of FOS, this job will likely be DOGE'd. Thats probably around 5 years or so down the line. I would not take this job hoping for it to be a back-up career if dispatch does not hire you.
