Turkeys vs TSA

When does this stop? Emotional support animals have gone the way of stupid. The airlines HAVE to put their collective feet down!!
SOON…!

Funny you say this. Local places where I live have gone hard core on excluding animals which, by the way, is accordance with friggin local ordinance and state law which has been on the books since forever. They’re also taking a very dim view of falsified “service animal” paperwork and you can get barred from the store if they figure it out.

Not sure what caused the flip flop, but there are now signs very prominently displayed.

The problem was state and local laws that gave ESA’s the same legal status as service animals.

The ADA prohibits people from asking to see documentation proving an animal is a service dog.

Combine these two and we have a runaway problem.

I think that documentation should be required for travel and lodging.

I love this.

Someone's "dog with a smock" dropped a steamer in the meat section at my local grocery store and the owner just trotted away like a grocery store has the ability to handle some sort of biohazard team at the ready.

Worst I ever saw was at a local chicken eatery (small local chain of stores…they make good chicken pasta).

So I’m sitting there eating my chikin and some lady comes in with her freekin dog that was as big as her, and it proceeds to jump up on everything…like places where food is served. I mean this wasn’t a little rat dog my cat would have used as a scratching post, but like a big ass dog.

No one says a thing, but after she leaves, the staff just shrugs and proceeds to hose all the surfaces down with bleach, so the whole eat-in experience is marinating in Clorox.

I’m a regular so I asked the manager WTF? since dogs are expressly banished in local health codes and he just shrugged and said “we’ve been told not to ask or say anything”, which at $18/hr was fair.

Happy to see that has turned around somewhat.

Pro tip: your pets do NOT want to travel, put in the car, or dragged through the terminal filled with alarming smells and sounds. They want to stay home, on their comfy pillow, and they’ll still love you when you get home, because you’re the bald primate that feeds them.

Say it again, LOUDER and in ALL CAPS.

A lot of people don't realize the hell it is taking your animal outside of the home. Unfamiliar smells, stress, motion, loss of 'territory' , etc.

My old dog is awesome in unfamiliar territory and with strange people and dogs.

That said, other than a romp in an open field or the beach, he’d rather be at home or on his normal walking paths with the five people he likes. When in public, he really doesn’t love the affection of strangers and doesn’t initiate context.

Perfect dog.

We have a 'people dog' but he's nuts and completely polyamorous. Oh yeah, I'm his owner, but there's this other cool dude over here and there's this cool couple, and they have snacks over there, I need to be in THAT lap way over there right now, THERE'S AN OPEN GATE! Woo! Someone's driving up in a G-Wagon, lets go see who it is...

My pup loves to travel. I only take him places where he's welcome though.

Most of my dogs have starved for the attention of strangers and kids. I imagine some dogs live for that rush.

My current dog was an older pound dog that was on death row. His biggest fault was he wasn’t a tail-wagging ball of affection.

Bottom line, give your dog a good life and sometimes that means leaving them at home.
