Moron. 22 years old— that’s probably the final nail in the coffin for getting through KCM without guaranteed extra screening.

AMS has the ultimate crew security, everyone should model after that.

As for KCM or whatever replaces it, ALPA needs to lobby for immediate secondary screening within 50' of whereever we go. None of this backtracking a mile to get in line. Plus, get rid of the stupid distinction between uniform/non-uniform.

It'd be great to go a few days without airline people doing dumb things.

Every time I complain about KCM, there's always someone that does something profoundly idiotic to make me wonder why we still have it. There was a short-lived movement of people I know that were going to stop using it, in protest, and just getting in the back of the line with the regular passengers because, and I quote, "once delays start, they'll stop harassing us." No, the TSA couldn't give less of a poop and your airline is just going to make pickup sooner (read: shorter layover) at your hotel to ensure on-time.

Agreed. There are some airports where it is no big deal to be randomed where you basically turn left instead of right, and but your bag on a machine and off you go. And then there are airports where you have to go back to square one and then fight your way into a line and then think about your life choices and if a lump sum were ever offered etc.

Funny how such a thing hits at times, like a crappy commute day.

SLC is nice in that the machine is right there, and TSA folks seem happy to work a chill station vs the zoo upstairs.

My cousin inadvertently carried a gun in his carry on through security at an airport in Alabama. Not only did they let him go without any sort of charges, but they allowed his dad to come pick up the gun from the airport while my cousin caught his flight.

(I'm pro 2A, don't @ me, I just think enforcement in this domain is hilarious in its inconsistentcy.)
 
If I found myself in this situation, I like to think I would have the presence of mind to strip down nekkid before I allow myself to be mugshat in the distinctive uniform of my career.

My problem is the odd presumption of pending violence that can destroy a career.

You were 100% legal and presumed non-violent until you crossed this line, now you are presumed to be violent.

We need to screen for such things but let’s interject some common sense before we destroy careers, lives, and reputations.

Generally agree with this, in the, what, "world at large"? But as Derg points out above, in the broader context, the number of either bone-headed or deliberately unlawful actions by flight crew makes me think that we should just go back to "when in uniform with a KCM badge, you go to the front of the line". Boom, dealt with. It's an extra, what, maybe 3 minutes?

I love breezing through as much as the next guy (and I'm not a commuter, full transparency), but if you're in danger of missing your commute over 180 seconds, maybe you should leave five minutes earlier and keep your blood-pressure down for the medical.

Boris, don’t get me wrong. I want these guys keelhauled, I just don’t want these idiots to lose their careers. I am curious if these folks struggle with checklists once they clear TSA.

I have worked in places where poor packing decisions could lead to a beheading. Leave your gun, booze, drugs, and porn at home. Buy in-country.
