Next Up in the RLA Conga Line

I look at this as it is mainly intended to keep the year 1-3 guys from bailing. I thought it was mentioned that their starting pay was something like 63/hr. If you look at the pay bump that’s damn near a 50% increase. Looks like top tier guys got a 15-20% raise. Besides Delta, if you got that percentage would you be content?

The $1,500/mo for new hires amazes me. You can’t hire a fast food worker for that.

Yeah, but one day...

serious question: what is the purpose of a 321 override? Why not just make it that rate? Or is it as the 321's get diluted they can lower that percentage and it's just to try and sell the AiP?

I left a ULCC because of crap like this, but that being said, if this is just a "place holder" rate till the merger...I'd vote yes

Meh. I don't think it's an ooph. It's more like, people saw what Delta got and now want what Delta got. For a ULCC, those numbers look good. And as mentioned, this is just a bridge to get over to the jetBlue merger JCBA.

I remember years ago, Spirit made a commercial featuring their own employees where some blonde lady read out loud twitter complaints about Spirit. The main chorus ends up being: "Some people hate Spirit. Let's help them get it. It's a cheap seat, for a cheap ass, we call that flying smart class....."

I remember pointing out on APC that there are some of us where NK is the only nonstop option and it isn't that we are being cheap, it's that it is the most convenient with young kids because you avoid a stopover. It was basically ridiculed. Your own customers.

So. If that logic works for people who pay YOUR checks, whey doesn't that logic work for your pilots? Cue the self-defense in 3...2...1...

This has always been in place at NK, not new. It’s the same as looking at Delta’s rates and how their 320 rates are lower than their 321. Instead of getting paid on a leg by leg basis it just blends both rates and every flight pays the same regardless of type.

I bet it drives you insane that these bridge numbers from a ULCC match your new top legacy rates. Yes it’s only the top rate that matches but still…

That doesn’t drive me insane. What drives me insane is seeing pilots stuck in a seniority system beotch about what someone else has instead of finding some semblance of happiness for where they are.

No matter. My standard answer to anyone who beotches about what Delta got is now this…

I know pilots like to pretend that there isn’t (and hasn’t) been a hierarchy in pilot pay for legacies, majors/nationals, and regionals from literally all measurable historical references, but your “feelings” don’t care.

I find the outrage hilarious at my shop and others (like Spirit) now that their new contract isn’t close to what Delta got in their AIP.

The whining of jet engines is awesome. Pilots? Not so much.

Bad strategy. I’ve played that game before, and SWAPA used it against us. We settled for rates far below what we were targeting in order to get the CBA done so we could focus on SLI and a JCBA, but then SWAPA came to the SLI table and claimed our new rates were proof that we were an “inferior” carrier based on our lower pay rates that we just agreed to. Don’t make that mistake.

I personally think you’ll take any position on any topic as long as it allows you to be argumentative. When NK was working on the last contract you stuck your “ legacy “ nose in the air and said there were “tiers” of airlines and people who didn’t work at legacies were foolish to ever expect legacy rates. Maybe not word for word but that was the jist of your argument. Now it makes you insane if people aren’t happy with what they have? Thank goodness your negotiating committee had a stronger spine than you do. I’ve never expected delta rates at NK but I’m thankful to them for raising the tide. By the way, keep trying to get hired at Delta, your sexual tension with them is sickening.
