Next Up in the RLA Conga Line

My guess based on past practice... 1.) social media will explode with a No vote campaign. 2.) Agreement passes at 73-82% 3.) 2 months later, not one yes voter will admit to it on the line. :)

Every time.

I always think we're one negotiating cycle away from ALPA "trains" and flags.

"How did this pass? It's impossible! We had flags, boats and hats!"

For those of you who are a strong NO already, or friends with those who are, what would you need to be a yes?

I don’t understand the Delta contract but as it was recently explained to me: they get jacked around a lot because of reassignments.

They were shooting for what United has 225% of the original trip plus 5 hours or days off restored.

Apparently they just got 5 hours. Which is I think what we got at AS.

The problem is that each contract is different. United has better reassignment language than Delta (it's not a straight 225% though), but they have FSB. We have WAY better reassignment language than United, but our payrates are lower. American has way worse reassignment language than Delta but has some better things elsewhere. CBAs are dynamic.

Man the Russians are everywhere.

This is the price of good reserve rules. All long call, limited short call, and no airport standby.

Don’t they assign their LCR short call a lot though?
Short call can only be assigned 6-7 times a month depending on average line values for the month. The best way to avoid it is by picking up flying on your reserve days.

The gamble was who would come out better if the economy tanked in the mean time or if the reason that Delta management finally decided to bring the wheelbarrow to a negotiating session didn't materialize for another year. Same decisions we always have to make.

I could have just done without the fear based voting on the uneducated’s perception of “the economy”.

It’s worse than taking financial advice from pilots. In this case their poor understanding of the world and most importantly their fear, drives a decision that negatively affects me.

the best part of the reserve system by far is the payback days. You can literally work 0 days on call and be paid 140 hours for being gone the same or less than you would have on call.

Happy they didn’t cave on that because if they did I was an automatic no.

Yep. Typical month for me is 2-3, rarely see many more in my category assigned. 18 hour LC is mo' better for sure. 12 hours can be tight at certain times of day for a lot of commuters, this would make it much more palatable.

Looking forward to seeing more details.
