I’m in favor of weed being legal if we just make edibles mandatory instead. Holy crap am I tired of smelling that stuff in hotels.

I can imagine crewing with our pilot of interest on a long flight when he proceeds to tell me that his girlfriend has dumped him. Awkward.

The LAX commuter hotels were basically weed dens and it’d soak into my uniform. Eww.
I’ve had to go full Karen with my apartment building about it. Last place I want to smell that stuff is in my own home.

I'm a little confused. Are you saying you're tired of "smelling" what in hotels? Are you saying you didn't receive a "smoke free" room? Are you saying "smelled" an order permeating through the corridors of a hotel room? Did you continue to smell in in YOUR room? If so, did you report it to the front desk?
This really attractive female I remember was flatulent in an elevator that I rode with her. She wasn't as bad as the the guy next to me who didn't put on deodorant. Wonder if I could have received any compensation if I reported it?

You can recieve a smoke-free room and it'll still reek of pot if someone hit the dank nuggs rooms away. It's the worst.

Agreed. Nasty smell! I was for legalizing this crap but the stench is horrendous. Eff it, ban this crap from around/near public spaces.

I didn’t change that much. After all, I quoted you. I didn’t pick your words.
In several posts, I suggested something other than a binary approach, emphasizing that the nature of a crime and recidivism matters in the risk management matrix.
You suggested something more static than a binary question, it sounded like your “paid his dues and moved on” was pretty absolute. If you shift gears when I change the crime you are giving up on the only point you made.
No, don’t change my question, just answer in a manner that is consistent with your previous post.
You question why there is pushback. The answer is multi-faceted. In general, we can’t totally ignore the risks associated with recidivism.
In this case, I think that few of us fear recidivism as much as being concerned about his behavior on the job and in the cockpit. I’d be more willing to accept the missteps of youth but this guy committed his violent crimes well into adulthood, he was a Captain in the Air Force. He barely escaped attempted murder charges that could have delivered a life sentence.

It’s like we completely forgot why we got rid of tobacco in all these places.
It’s amazing how old school bowling alleys can STILL reek of cigarette smoke 20+ years after indoor smoking bans became a thing. I forget how bad even restaurants used to be.
