"Ready in sequence" is a useful term to remind a sleepy controller that there are multiple aircraft waiting to go, even though no one is landing and nothing is happening. (Looking at you, HPN). Also a good way to get the guy doing his five minute run up/programming the Garmin short of the active to get it moving, as other airplanes would like to use the runway too, if that's ok with him.
