AA W/O’s get massive pay raise

Serious question

Envoy flight crew cost per seat are approaching AAs and the flow means that they are effectively already on the AA seniority list. What’s the point of having separate regional airlines to fly these jets anymore?

it made sense when Mesa was flying CRJ 900s for 1900 level pay scales. Pretty soon a RJ pilot who is hustling could pull down more than a mainline FO.

The main upside of the status quo is that integrating the regionals into the mainline certificate would be a big expensive PITA.

Well the inverse being if the person leaves do you risk losing $430/HR in revenue.

Well, that's why layoffs and furloughs exist. If the revenue no longer exists, you don't want the cost either.

The rational behavior in business is to maximize income. Any cost is therefore rational to pay if it increases profit.

Still easier to roll back these raises than if they were part of mainline. The pay increase only lasts for 2 years, and if market conditions no longer necessitate the pay increase before then they can always "Comair" Envoy at any time and transfer the flying to SkyWest. Plus have any of Envoy's other employee groups gotten raises? Payroll costs are still lower than mainline if not.

I see both Envoy and Piedmont putting up the big deals. Anything from PSA?

What does this do to the rest of the regionals? I think DAL will probably open their wallets to prop up EDV, and SKW will probably match, but the others might just be toast. Any thoughts?
PSA is still negotiating on it. Our contract has some features the other two don't. And we don't have PBS yet, they do.

The story going on here at SKW is our partners are indeed going to open up their wallets to help pay for the new Captain pay rates which is yet to be announced.

"I mean, I wanna go to American and fly a 777, but I just don't want that paycut!"

In Evansville:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome aboard American Eagle flight 4432 service to Chicago O'Hare on this E145 but paying as a 777 service."

And isn’t APA in negotiations right now? This certainly did nothing to help the company’s position at the bargaining table.

No one is worth $430/hr
And yet, that doesn’t seem to bother CEOs when they get their 7 figure salary deals.
You’re worth exactly what you can negotiate. Not some fanciful idea of the value your labor provides, otherwise garbage men and teachers would be driving Benzes and finance bros would be doing charity drives to pay for their office supplies.
