Oh Delta XXVIII

Right?!? And now they've essentially cured it. Its a miracle.

India is taking the precautions as every other country. Plus you still have to multiply COVID cases there by atleast 10.

Here are some facts.

India population: 1,380,000,000
US population: 392,000,000

India vaccination rate: 31% fully vax
US vaccination rate: 59% fully vax

India population per sq mile: 386
US population per sq mile: 92

India isnt wearing masks and have less people vaccinated. Despite having 4X the population and people practically living on top of each other are in better state of Covid than we are. But sure, by all means tell me why masks and vaccines are important.

If, a big if, that data is all accurate - you're implying that the only explanation is Indians have superior immune systems compared to Americans. Do you have any data to support that?

The govt may be taking precautions...the people are not.

The only data point that is in contention in the actual case count being underreported by a factor of 10. Even if I give you that, their case count should still be 4X worse than our numbers. It isn't. They are extremely more densely populated with a lower vaccination rate and minimal public cooperation in regards to masking. You are correct, I am implying something, but there is no data to suggest they are any more adept at fending this thing off than anyone else.

So you’re implying something, something that you don’t know what exactly, and have no supporting evidence to support whatever it is you’re implying. Gotcha.

I'm all ears as to why you think their numbers are so low. Even allowing for the underreporting.

The burden of proof is on you. I’m not the one implying some mysterious/ unknown/ I-can’t-quite-put-my-finger-on-it theory.

What’s really happening is that you’re floating an unknown idea out there that matches your confirmation bias and hoping it gets traction, but it isn’t.

Where were all the pearl-clutching “ZOMG the supply chain” types when we were hoarding toilet paper and using vodka for hand sanitizer? :)

Come on. That was March-April 2020 when no one had any idea how bad this Covid thing would be. It calmed down.

I’ve said it numerous times, I couldn’t care less about Covid. I do care about the consequences of our actions to “fight” covid.

Months ago I was thinking out loud asking about how does this all work (vaccinate our way out of this) when billions of people in underdeveloped countries can't receive a vaccine soon enough to prevent mutation. Throw every American anti-vaxxer in a camp and jab them, you'll still be left with corners of the world where variants arise.......And then our Pharma companies will get right on it! One month, two months to develop (we'll cut down trials even further) and then the "new and improved' jabs will start.....And the cycle will repeat itself. Seems like a broken model.

OR

We can hope that the latest variant spreads wildly, is very mild and it passes through the population with minimal carnage.
