Swayne coming to a 121 near you

I dont want to ever fly with a Vlogger or someone is worried about getting clicks and likes.
I mean, as long as they leave all of it off the flight deck, I don't care. Be a professional, leave that crap home, get the job done. Then go drink a beer, or vlog or who gives a •.

Thats what i mean. Someone who has a camera rolling while they show up for work etc.

He’ll be furloughed soon enough. Not that I’d wish that on anyone but good grief.

I hate to be morbid, but it theres one thing that should be positive that comes out of this is a big bite of humble burger for some these people who skyrocketed in their careers since 2013-2019 never saw a hiccup yet bragged or complained. I had a JSer complain about needing 1,000 hrs in a jet before being allowed to upgrade. Another occasion, a JS complaining about not getting a call at the big 4 and UPS/Fedex. He was 25.

Morbid, but looking towards Swayne’s 9th yr RJ FO video and how that compares to videos of today. He’s always posted an overly rosey picture of this career.

My aviation career videos would probably cause a mass suicide or something.

I was in LCA class at my regional when this all went down. I started at 21 and I’m 26 now. It was a great four and a half years. I knew it would stop, I just didn’t think it would be this terrible.

I didn't have any career hiccups and got a bit lucky getting the career movement I had. I certainly never bragged or complained but knew a lot of my colleagues who did. This will be humbling for all of us in my generation. I'm still very thankful I got where I did (and got turbine PIC experience) even though I know I'm in the furlough zone.

I've got 39 years left in this industry and can't wait to get flying again. We all gotta pay our dues at some point.

There is life after furlough. . . right? Seems to be he has a backup plan that should see him through this. . .right? No reason for doom and gloom, right?

Am I missing something here? On YouTube, there's Air-Clips.com, PIlotseye.tv on Aviation World, and quite a few more.

Help me, please? How is what he's doing any different than what's sanctioned by the company on these channels?

Just trying to get a perspective.

I’m assuming you’ll be taking a big bite of said burger as well? I mean, you’re not exactly the poster child for how to boot strap your way out of ... anything, really.

I’m not interested In being in someones reality TV show and im not interested in flying with someone who is more concerned with their hair and getting good video content. That’s what im talking about. Like this moon guy.

I started Oct 2007 at a regional. Checkride day Age 65 passed (5 yr stagnation). 6 months later The 2008-2010 GFC and recession. Then hired at a LCC in early 2012. 3rd quarter just ~7 months in the airline deferred all growth and went into survival mode. Many were certain it was going out of business and I got the resume ready again for regional airlines. Only by luck and timing was I able to be where I am today. Assuming this Covid damage does last 3-5 yrs for the airlines to recover as the experts predict, my career in 2023 would have seen more “bad” years than “good” years. So no, I’m not the poster child for these complainers of good times.

I get 2 years in at anything and the bottom falls out inexplicably. I almost feel bad for everyone else at Eskimo Airways because I was hired there. I’m cursed lol

Flew with a C/A today who got hired at OY to sit sidesaddle with 300 hours. Worked hard, upgraded to F/O, did that for a decade or so, upgraded to C/A. Nary a bump in his career, you might say. But he A) Slept in a middle coach seat going to Trashcanistan getting paid peanuts for ~15 years, B) knows his poop inside and out and C) is about as humble as you can imagine. You know what he had in the cockpit instead of a camera (it was a 91 ferry)? A bluetooth speaker so we could all rock out to Master of Puppets. That's how you do it, kids.

Edit: Moral: Be the guy you wanted to fly with, when it's your turn. That guy does not have a camera pointed at anyone, least of all himself.

I subscribe to Nancy Bradshaw's channel on YT. She's an XJT FO. Very humble, she's not showing off her brand new BMW. She doesn't film in the cockpit and if she does she's alone and has no Patreon. She just talks about 121 aviation.

Dang dude, you’ve had it really rough. Take a seat for a minute and take a load off.
