Swayne coming to a 121 near you

This is the nitwit that union stewards loath. He needs to be pulled in a room and brow beaten; been there done that. I’m very curious why the employer hasn’t addressed this a while ago and taken action.
Great example of someone who works with the employer to make their vids: your boy Swayne. Great example of a rogue loose cannon: Moon.

I love you guys. We’re all about to be in the garlic bread line and here we are picking on some idiot who dances with his uniform on.

LOL come October 1 he’s on the street. So no problems there. He probably won’t touch an airplane between now and then. Along with most of us.

With his dancing skills he’ll probably get more garlic bread. Look who’s winning now.

Chill dude. Ain’t nobody getting furloughed.

I don't doubt he's a nice kid and probably very smart. But it sounds to me like he's completely oblivious to how damaging this can be for his career and how bad some of these videos look. It sounds like people have tried to communicate with him about it (maybe not the right way) and he is blocking them out. There is only so much you can do, I guess.

Yeah, but this is like smoking pot in the 60s and 70s. It was deemed career damaging and socially unacceptable (and illegal) then. Now, you might as well toke up 'cause every almost dude I know over 50 years of age is hitting the bong every night. Burners have been elected to the Presidency of the United States. And the kids don't think twice.
In the future (if there is one) social media awkwardness will likely not be a thing anymore when virtually everyone in the demographic has a bunch of it in their past.

Laws and customs are ONLY as good as societies' understanding of them and respect for them.

I got totally lost reading this. I don't see a comparison in doing an illegal drug 70 years ago to doing video voiceovers to rap songs about shooting people with my uniform on. Then the following day post a picture in front of what should be my potential employer and act as the brand imagine to one of the largest airlines. That's like saying in 50 years I don't see pilots wearing uniforms anymore and I can show up for casual Fridays.

Fail to see this comparison.

I thought the discussion was about kids' (and many elders') narcissistic obsession with posting video of their every sneeze. I didn't watch any of the vids.
If this is about someone shooting someone, well, yeah, that's different. If it's about him saying/doing stupid stuff on social media, then I hold by my statement. Culture always changes... but not always for the better - especially not in the last 50-60 years, and extra-especially, not right now.

BTW, in 50 years pilots won't wear uniforms. There won't be any pilots in 50 years for any of the many potential reasons currently being brewed... ranging from cultural demise due to social-media-enabled narcissism, to technological "advancement," to total global catastrophe.

The future ain't what it used to be. And these days lately, neither is the past.
