Oh United

Yep. Last year a guy was fired from both FedEx and UAL for trying a similar stunt. It bears repeating here, as this practice has unfortunately been recommended by a couple of legacy pilots in this thread.

New hires: Do not under any circumstance start class at your new airline while still employed at your old airline. You will be fired and have your nice new life ruined.

I asked (in an email) the new place if they minded that I would still be on vacation at the old place for a week when I started up, mostly so I could jumpseat across the country to get to the new job. They said no problem. I fedexed my ID back after I got done with my first day of indoc.

Wow. Hadn't heard about this one. @Cherokee_Cruiser 's BAe 146 crash reference.

Everyone knows the Fedex Flight Engineer, but this PSA was before the Fedex. It was brutal. They made a Mayday/Air crash investigation episode on PSA (also on Fedex).

On PSA the suicide note about "Hi Ray. I think it's sort of ironical that we end up like this. I asked for some leniency for my family. Remember? Well, I got none and you'll get none. " was found in the crash. Unbelievable that it survived and pointed to the truth.

“Yes I would be very interested in that ocean view property in Wichita!”

American doesn’t seem to think that...
17 Mar class:

“While your orientation is suspended, your employment at American is not. We want to do the right thing by you and by your families, so we will be making you an American Airlines employee as of March 17. As an employee, you will receive a paycheck, have travel privileges and be eligible to enroll in our medical coverage. We will reschedule your orientation once life returns to normal. Renee, Dena, Don, or Teri will reach out to you tomorrow to address any questions you may have.”
